Bender and Lily: Bonding Blog

Well, since Jennifer (Jam224) is out of town, Im watching her two beautiful rexes for her. Since they arent bonded yet, I offered to help bond them while they are here. After all, its a perfect neutral territory for them to get to know one another a little better.

First, here are Jennifer's pics from previous bonding sessions:

Day 1:

Bender and Lily have separate cages right now, so I set up a pen for them to share when theyre out:

Overall, the first day went well. They checked eachother out a lot but mostly ignored one another

And they are seriously the softest bunnies I have ever felt- and so well behaved!

The second day they paid more attention toone another and we hadgrooming!

They were great together- no fighting at all. :thumbup

They were in the pen together for about 2 hours while I sat here on the computer. They were wonderful the entire time until they just got in a little fight just now. Lily tried to hump Bender and he was not having it I petted them both and calmed them down, then they went back to snuggle together for a few minutes so I could end it on a good note

Wouldn't Jennifer be happy if she came home to a bonded Bender and Lily! They are such sweet bunnies - I actually got to meet them in May.

Looks like things are going really well. I suspect those two will be bonded in no time!!

Even though bonding has been put on hold for now, I'll go ahead and add these pics:

These were taken during a bonding sessionwe had soon after I got the furkidsback from Haley. Again, it was about two hours and then there was a huge scuffle, where they ended up tussling in the litterpan (of course! :headsmack), so I had to separate them. For the first time EVER, I heard Bender *honk* and HE tried to mount HER. Yeah, Lily wanted none of that, lol!

DH and I are hopeful for these two, bonding just takes a lot of time, patience, and energy, plus it stresses me out a bit. One day they'll be lovebuns! :bunnyheart:bunnyheart For now, we don't mind that these boogers need their own space -- we love them just the same!
