Hi.
I have just rescued a 16 week old male cross breed rabbit (unsure what he was crossed with).
I am new to bunny owning and have noticed a few things he does which makes me wonder what or why he does it.
Today, he jumped up onto the couch then onto my lap, so I began to pet him and he started to lick my pants and then suddenly turned around and nipped me. Just once, not enough to draw blood but gave me a fright then hopped away.
Fast forward a few hours, I was laying on the ground and he started circling me fast, making a funny soft noise.
Then later, I was laying on the couch and he jumped up onto my stomach and started to dig on me, then peed on me, followed by biting/tugging my clothes before I realised he peed on me.
He has access to his indoor cage/get away zone so unsure why he did this.
Was he being territorial? Neutering time?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Bunnies are hard work. But I love him already :)

That's such an adorable bun with the cutest colouring! *squee*

Yes, it is neutering time. Those are classic hormonal behaviours, he is marking you with his scent and trying to mate with you.

Sounds like someone needs the snip! Circling, nipping, chinning, digging - all classic signs of hormones. But he is adorable! I hope things get better when he's neutered :)

(around 4 months of age is when they become sexually active also so must be the hormones!)

Yup he adores you! Like everyone else said it's time to get the boys removed. I don't mind the courting from my boy. He's pee'd on me as well that I wasn't to fond of. But the cute little grunting noises he's does makes me giggle. Licking is a sign of grooming which rabbits do. Biting was probably a love nip. It hurts I know! He'll be an all around better bun if you get him neutered. :)

Thanks everyone! Will get him booked in for that this week. Hopefully no more peeing on me! :) he is very adorable, I hope he stays a smoochy bunny.

Omg, ha ha, your post cracked me up! He sure was busy wasn't he lol! I love his colours, what a sweet pie!

He's a real cutie. I love the circling behaviour with the soft grunting, I think it's adorable, unfortunately since his op Bandit doesn't do it anymore :p Definitely teenage hormones kicking into gear though.

In regards to him licking your pants then nipping you when you were petting him, that could simply be him saying he didn't want to be petted either. For a few months after I got Bandit, he would nip on occasion to tell me to not pet him or move out of his way etc. I dealt with it by pressing his head down firmly (something that other rabbits do to tell a rabbit off) and saying "no". He has learned not to nip :)

Bunnies are a lot of work, but they're very rewarding :)
