Hello. I am not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but I thought I'd try. If a place is selling bunnies for pets, and they aren't being kept in good conditions, is there anything you can do? Is there someone you can call? There's a place in my home town where they sell pet bunnies, and one day it was over 80 degrees with no AC where the bun's were. I snuck and turned a utility fan on for them that was nearby. I had to drag it over a bit and aim it at them but I couldn't just do nothing. The conditions at this place are so sad, the bun's cages are always dirty, and so overcrowded. In an average size cage, say 3ft by 3 ft, there were, not exaggerating, 20 baby buns crowded together in this cage. And this was the same very hot day....Is there anything I can do? I worry about these poor bunnies and don't know who to call or what to do. Thanks for the help.

You can try calling your local Humane Society, SPCA or animal control. Most animal controls only deal with cats and dogs, so the humane society might be better. Many do have a way that you can make an anonymous complaint. There should be laws in your area about the conditions that animals are kept in. Even though it might be different for animals for sale than for pets, there should still be laws about it. At the very least, they need food, water and shelter. Hopefully there are also rules about the number of animals per cage or in a space and how clean the cages are kept.

You may want to try calling and speaking to a manager first, if you can muster up the courage. I know I probably wouldnt want to, but it's worth a shot. Maybe they just need to know that customers arent happy? Is it a chain you could try sending an email to corporate?

I doubt the HS will do anything, ours seem to care less about rabbits. You could try a local rescue and see if you can get a bunch of people to call and complain. Other than that, PETA maybe? I run into the same problem sometimes and never really know what to do. Rabbits are often kept in poor conditions and no one seems to do anything about it. I did get a local Pet Supplies Plus to start providing hay and putting the buns on Yesterdays News when I complained about their wood shavings. The manager was really clueless that they were doing anything wrong.
