This Summer I'm spending my summer baby sitting. I'm watching my two cousins one is going to be four and the other is ten. Their parents want me to give them a price. I'm not sure what is fair for both them and me. I'm watching them from 7am-3:30 pm. I've looked on websites and every time I do the math it's $200-300 a week. I don't want to ask that much since they are family. Last time when I watched just the one of them I got $100 every two weeks. Can anyone help me with this? :)
I don't get out of school until June but for some reason they want to know now.

i dont know how old you are but make sure you charge enough cause that is a long day with two kids lol

if it is mon thru fri i would say 75.00-100.00 a week

5 bucks an hour. comes out to about 35 per day, times 5 days a week. That rounds out to $175 per week.

I guess it depends on the going price for babysitting in your area...

I don't know if you can ask this, but how much are they paying for childcare right now?
Are you bringing your own lunch?
Are you making lunch?
Do you have to spend money taking the kids on outings?
What is the minimum wage in your area? The minimum wage is about $8.00 here in Ontario, Canada. Waitresses get paid $6.75/hour, as it is presumed they get tips.

What I'm trying to say is that you deserve a fair wage, no matter your age. Taking care of a 4 and 10 year old is not always going to be easy; this has to be worth your time.
At 4 dollars an hour, the price comes out to $140.
At 3 dollars an hour, the price comes to $105.

I know they are your family, but you should not be doing this work for too low a wage. That would be taking advantage of you.

Look around your neighbourhood. Get an idea on how much other ppl are charging per hour for babysitting, walking dogs, delivering newspapers... any job that people your age normally do.

Is this at your house or their house?

I would charge atleast minimum wage for your area. More if they want you to do cooking/cleaning too. Taking care of kids is a big job, they should alteast be charging you what you could be making at a job like McDs.

My friend is a nanny and she gets paid 10$/hour(min wage here is 8.40$). She takes care of a 5 and 7 yo from 10am to 4pm and she is expected to prepare lunch of the 5yo when he gets back from kindergaten.

I'm 15 and I'll be going to their house. I usually don't eat while I'm there. If I do go I usually bring my own snacks. I don't get much of a chance to eat when I watch the youngest one. He is a handful. The ten year old sits around and watches TV and plays video games. I'll probably clean while I'm there to give me something else to do.
