Well I don't know if anyone remembers but I posted about the peanut baby in my litter. Well the three remaining babies are getting so big. They have now opened their eyes and are running all around the cage. very cute to watch.
But I do have a question about the color of one. Both mother and father are all black. Two of the babies look like dark black but one just doesn't look like he is going to be black. If you look at the picture he looks more like a brown. What color do you think he could be?
When he was a baby and just getting fur it was more of a grey. Idk

Yeah you can get a Chocolate from two blacks.
It also depends on the parents and their parents etc.
What breed are they anyway?

Def. looks chocolate to me.

What colors are on the pedigree of the parents? It might be a seal if there are shaded ancestors.

The parents are both 2 1/2 pound dwarfs. Not sure anything about their parents, they are both rescue bunnies that happen to be male and female living together. what does a seal look like? I am kind of excited that they are not all black, i like a little color variety.

A seal is a shaded variety that looks kind of like a chocolate only darker. I have them pop up in my sable point litters. It's a pretty color but not many people raise them.

I lean towards thinking the baby is a seal - largely because you talked about the fur being grey earlier. Chocolates are brown from day one (or so it seems to me from my limited experience with them).

I will try to look up the information later - if I remember right a seal will have gray undersides on the paws or something like that - I'll look for my rabbit genetics book and see if I can find it. (Polly - I think you have the same book I'm thinking of - so if you find it before me - go ahead and post). But there is a trick to telling the difference between black and seal - I just need to remember what it is.

Seals will have a light undercolor and the belly is slightly lighter that the back. I have a couple of seals that I use in my SP program. I will see if I can get pictures of them.
