So, I have just gotten a baby ND on Sunday. He is about 2.5 months old. I keep him in a rabbit pen in my bedroom and my boyfriend lets him out in the morning for a few hours and I let him out in the evening, we're both making sure he gets plenty of exercise! He is soooo curious about his surroundings especially us. He is a very social bunny and enjoys sniffing around us and doesn't mind the occasion pat on the back but the second I try to pick him up to he kicks. I know most bunnies don't like to be picked up however I would like him to get used to his harness early on.

This being said, should I wait for him to completely bond with me before trying to put a harness on him? (If so how long?)

Also, I have not given him any treats yet as the person I bought him from advised me to allow him to adapt to his environment naturally first.

Any other tips on bonding with my bunny would also be appreciated :)

Thank You,
Michelle.

You could try laying down on the floor. They feel safer if you're not towering over them, and my two like to jump over and on me. I've also heard laying in awkward positions gets their curiosity going.

Oh, and chin/head rubs are great, especially if you've offended the rabbit in some way. Lily gets mad at me all the time, but she's a sucker for having her nose stroked.

Another thing you could do is pick up some pureed pumpkin (baby food works as it's usually organic and there's no other ingredients) or banana. Like dogs, rabbits will be your best friends for life when confronted with food. You could give him a nibble before and after introducing him to the harness, so he associates the harness with good things. Just take it really slow. :)

Mine are getting used to their carrier for the big move. I just stuck it in their pen and now they're happily sleeping in it. Little do they know...
