Our female bunny had babys yesterday outside while she was out for a run around; we were not sure she was pregnent , this is her first litter she had 3

since she had them outside we picked them up with gloves and moved them to the cage the mother is not really feeding them but she ripped out hair to make a nest and she is also sepereating them into piles 2 and 1 ; what can i do if she doesnt feed them? ..

please any info on this will help

Rabbits only nurse their babies 1-2 times a day, check their bellies they should be nice and fat. Until they have fur you can see the milk in their bellies. You can hold them every day if the Mom trusts you. The touching baby animals makes Moms reject them is a myth. Mom and everything in her cage already smells like you so she wont mind if her babies do too. Do you have a box, ie cat litter box you can put them in so they can't squirm and get lost. Try too keep all 3 together they need each other for warmth. Good luck with the little ones :) Also give Mom lots of food now. Babies are going too eat like little piglets :)

Most likely the kits are just separating themselves. Mother rabbits usually don't move their kits, although the kits will crawl around whatever space you give them.

She will only nurse them once a day for about 10 minutes--that's all they need. Just keep an eye on them. If they get skinnier, you'll have to feed them yourself.

Kitten Milk Replacer is pretty common. Goat's milk is the other option (sometimes with formula mixed in). You would feed them with an eyedropper, holding them so their feet are down and head is up. Feed them once a day until they're round.

Did you give her a nestbox for the kits?

They definitely need some sort of a box to be in - even a shoebox would be a help.

Mama will most likely feed them - sometimes once or twice a day - often during the middle of the night when no one is around. You can tell if they're getting fed if they're bunnies look like little ping pong balls (vs. being shrunken and wrinkled).

If you need a recipe for formula - you can check here. I successfully raise a flemish giant on it and the person who wrote the article and shared it is well known and respected in the rabbit world.

Good luck.

Thank you all for your input and help

Momma must have known there was something wrong with it. It is unfortunate, but it happens.

So glad to hear the remaining two are doing well. :)

We need pictures!
