Hi. My babies, well bunny grand childrenactually, are now 10 days old. Any adivce on what to do right now.Should I remove the nest. If the babies come out of the nest should Iput them back??? They haven't yet opened their eyes.

Thanks

No leave the nest in there; they won’thave any where to go if they don’t have their nest :) Especially sincetheir eyes are not open they need a place to feel secure. The babieswill open their eyes within 5 days, if not you might need to help them.

If they get out of the box you can put them back.

:D

Should I clean the nest at this stage??? And when you say help them open their eyes, how do you do that??

Is the nest dirty?

If they eyes are not open by the 15 or 16th day you take a solution ofwater (like 16oz) and a pinch of salt and gently rub their eyes with alint free cloth, and their eyes usually open.

The nest doesn't seem too dirty to me. But Iread somehwere that its advisable to clean the nest at 10 days toprevent eye infection, true?

Quote from Pamnock:

Regarding cleaning the nesting area: The kits depend on the scent tokeep them in the nesting area, so it is not advised to entirely cleanit out (just remove the wet bedding). Bacterial infections can developin a very dirty nesting area, but if the babies were not wet or dirty,I wouldn't suspect that they died from the nest not being cleaned.

Hi when will the babies start to wander around the hutch?

Also when should I remove the nest or should I leave until I separate the babies from their mother (8weeks)??

The babies generally start to wander about andcheck out their world at 8-14 days when their eyes haveopened. I remove the box at this time, put a bunch of hay inthe corner and fill it with the fur/scent from the box so they'llrecognize it as their "nest".

So when they start wandering about, is it safefor us to take the babies out of the hutch to play? and if so what is ahealthy duration of time to be away from the mother.
