azithromycin ok for rabbits?

Just double (triple) checking to be sure azithromycin is safe for rabbits for RI. Years ago I had a vet give my rabbit an antibiotic that I, after-the-fact, thought was not safe and killed my bun. (details sketchy, so many yrs ago)

So have others used this for their rabbit?

I've never used it personally but dosages for rabbits are listed in both my Plumb's Veterinary Drug Handbook and my Exotic Animal Formulary. If you don't trust your vet, it might be time to look for a new one.

It's not that I don't trust him but that I don't know him. I've only met him once, though he did come recommended.

I'm not one to accept an "experts" opinion right off the bat. I know there are vets more knowledgeable than others. I just didn't want to make an obvious mistake if this medicine was harmful.

I'm hoping he will win my confidence. I spoke with him further today and what he said seemed to line up with both others on this forum and with the local rabbit rescue. --one notch up on my scale.
