Pamnock: Blindness in rabbits has manycauses including bacterial, geneticandcongenital. If that particular line carries an inherited formof blindness, then it is not advisable to breed them.Albinois a commoncolor in rabbits, and albinism in itself, does notnecessarily cause blindness.

Freddy's ears are so big that everytime his vet sees him, she calls him her "Dumbo-boy" :?
Nimue HATES the vet, every time we go he acts like a big baby and wontlet the vet touch him. All he wants me to do is hold him, which is noeasy task when he weighs more then 20lbs!

Hmm...wonder if I should do some testing withKeely...whats the best way to figure that out? So far I've seen nothingthat leads me to believe that..Amy, did you have suspicions?

Ok, so then it sounds like maybe I don't have toworry so much...so far she really shows no signs!! Glad it doesn't seemto affect Nimue much!

Well the firstthing that made me think he is blind was the fact that he would runinto things *clunk* *clunk*

Then his eyes started to go purple, not the normal pink or red like a regular albino.

Also when I am holding him and I kiss hisnose he jumps like I scared him (which I did).

So now when ever I want to pick Nimue up Isay "Nimue Up" and he knows I am going to hold him. If I dont say thathe gets all nervous and wants to get down.

I usually train the rabbits with handsignals, but with Nimue I have to hope he doesnt go deaf because thenall is lost.

does a flemish not live aslong as other rabbit breeds because of their size?? i read a few sitesthat said they dont live much longer past 5 years eeekkk!!!that seems like such a short life span! our little one willbe getting neutered! and kept as an indoorbun.
