Hello everyone,

As I'm sure you know, Governor Schwarzenegger recently proposed a series of
tax raises, new taxes and budget and program cuts, as part of his plan to
balance the state budget. Included in his proposal was a first-time-ever sales
tax on veterinary services that could add an estimated 9% to your bill each
time your pet receives veterinary services.

Pets are an important part of our families, and a lot of families are
already facing financial hardship in today's economy. Increasing the cost of
veterinary care will likely lead to more pets being abandoned, euthanized, or
surrendered to shelters where they would face an uncertain future. Likewise,
rescue groups will incur increased veterinary costs. In short, higher costs
equate to less care.

Your assistance is needed. Write letters, make phone calls, send emails, or
fax your comments to the Governor and to your elected representatives. Ask
that the tax on veterinary services be eliminated from the Governor's
proposal.

Veterinary Medical Association's web site at _www.cvma.net_
(http://www.cvma.net/) .

The Governor hopes to have his bill passed by the end of November, so time
is of the essence.

Thank you.
