Hello my first Rabbit Samantha(R.I.P) and my second rabbit prince ali(R.I.P) mated when sammy was 2 years old and ali when he was 1 and a half, the cause of death was that Sammy was pregnant and her bunnies poisened her.

This belongs in the rabbitry & showroom section, so hopefully a mod can move it for us.

As far as your question, rabbits can mate at about 5 to 8 months of age, depending on the breed. Smaller breeds about 5 months, medium breed at about 6 months, and larger breeds about 8 months, sometimes older.

I've never heard of a doe dying because her babies "poisoned" her. ;) Perhaps she had difficulties giving birth, and that was he reason for her passing on? Did you have a vet do a necropsy on her and figure out the cause of death?

Depends on the breed and the size of the rabbit.
Dwarfs 5-7 months
medium 7-8 months
large 9-11 months sometimes older but before 12 months old before the pelvis bones fuse up.

Moving this to the Rabbitry & Show Room.
