I just brought home a 7 week old Netherland dwarf girl the other day. She has the loveliest disposition. So calm and easy to handle.
I was just wondering what her colour is called and also if anyone has experience with that breed. What is their personality like? I have the feeling she is going to be very saucy

Aww, what a cutie! She looks like a sable marten to me. Her color should start darkening and filling out more as she matures.

Netherland Dwarfs vary in personality. We have one that's really calm and mellow and another that is really hyper and acts like a spoiled little brat who's parent's never discipline him :p

med/light sable marten :Dand vey cute she is too congrats on getting a nethie. as LBP said they can have different personlaities. They are a very cheeky and inquisitive breed like to get up to mischief when they feel comfortable with their surroundings.

DOes can get a bit nippy sometimes (not always ) when they get hormonal just a something to watch out for!

any questions let me know I have had them for 10 years now and love em ;)

In the photograph she looks as if she has some light brown in her but she doesn't really have any it's all different shades of grey and a white belly. Sable martin sounds good. Rather than just calling her grey:).
She has already nibbled a hole into my son's jumper. I am just amazed that nothing seems to phase her. Even when we transported her home she sat in her boxwashing herself and nibbling hay. She is not a bit shy.
It took my lionhead boy several weeks to start relaxing.

oh well if its teh camera playing tricks and she is really a pale gray then she is a smoke marten ;)which is what my Boo is its a beautiful colour we are looking at perhaps getting my neice a trio of smoke martens to show and breed with.

Yes seriously do not expect mush to phase her!! I have found even when stressed they just carry on regardless they are just to nosy lol:pI freaked when i brought my dutch home because he was so stressed out and wouldnt eat with it whereas I had never had that problem with a nethie!! Hercules (my bew)had a 9 hour car journey up from Ipswich got here and Bruce was doing some work on the shed I thought he was dead as through all the banging and hammering and he was flat out on his side!! nope he just was snoozing lol i had to open his cage and poke him to make sure he was still alive and do you know what he did? .. he lifted his head up opened one eye and gave me a very dirty look lol

Random question; what is the difference between a sable marten and sable point? When I got on this thread I told myself it was a sable point but then I saw everyone else had already said otherwise Xo

But she is oh-so-cuteee!! And in the second pic it looks like she's raising her eyebrows >.< lol

Sable martens have the white tan pattern markings.

Sable point (siamese sable with the recessive homozygous non-extension gene "ee"):

Thanks guys. Sable marten it is then. And she is unbelievably chilled out. We introduced her to Benny last night, who is about twice her size. No fear at all only curiousity.
