We have apple, pear, and plum trees in our yard. I was wondering if any of those are ok for my lionheads to eat. And what about Bananas and other fruits. And corn and stuff like that, our neighbors have a 20 acre garden and we get stuff from them all the time. I know lettace and spinich and stuff is good, i was just wondering what else is ok to give them

I think fruit should be in moderation (as in a small piece a couple of times a week). Too much sugar isn't so good. N One of my rabbits loves apple, and the other doesn't care for it. ot sure about plums and bananas. Corn is a sometimes treat as well, too much isn't very good for them. Capsicum (bell peppers), cucumber, celery (chopped up) are also some thing you can grow in the garden for them.

Fruit should only be treats. Make sure all apple seeds are removed before giving to your rabbits. They also like apple twigs to chew on, so you can save any prunings for them.

Corn kernels can get stuck in the throat or further down. I think it's ok if cracked. And corn husks can be torn up & given as food. Leaf lettuce is great. Spinach should be given only very occasionally.

If your yard isn't chemically treated, you can feed your rabbits plantain leaves & grass if you pull or hand cut it before you mow. But you have to avoid some weeds, such as ground ivy, ie creeping charley.

Fruit is a treat as the others have said. You can give a small piece of one of the fruits a couple times a week. Fruit tends to be high in sugar, so should only be a treat.

Corn is not really good for rabbits. It is hard for them to digest and that can lead to blockages. I think it is better to just avoid corn.

The best things to give are leafy green veggies. Fresh grass is also good, but best if picked by hand (no lawn clippings after you mow)

I've also heard that corn is a big no-no for rabbits because they can't digest parts of it.

as for fruit feeding, House Rabbit Society says:
"FRUITS
These should be no more then 10% of the diet (about 1 teaspoon per 2 lbs of body weight per day)."

I feed my 2 lb rabbits fruit daily, usually about 1/2 tsp. I'll give a full tsp some days if I didn't give them any the day before.

apple, pear and plum are all "approved" fruits to feed.

Thank you everyone for your replys! I knew i could give them greens, i just wasnt sure about the other stuff. We have a puppy playpen that we put them outside for a few hours everyday so they get lots of grass. We absolutely adore them, ive never had lionheads before. I had a jersey wooley and a lop eared but these guys are really friendly.

--howdy,eastern wa.--fruit trees,weeds,herbs,etc.--are quite the subject and you will need to brief all info before feeding the bunz-(some is conflicting)--,daily i cut -weeds like grasses, dandylions, etc. for my facility bunz--they love them-,yes-i sort,ck.quality, wash them,--to get you started ck the rabbit online library or click http://www.medirabbit.com --not all fruit trees are on the good list ie.cherry, some say plum (are not good)--it is equally as shocking herbivores cannot/should not eat anything that disturbs the gi-tract-flora,or one would be asking for trouble,--try to stay with high fiber diet ie. timothy hay, orchard grasses, lots of water, and everything else is a treat--and this plan will help diagnose medical problems as they arise,--sincerely james waller:big wink::wink,,ps i forgot to mention rabbit pellets,,i offer purina rabbit chow complete, and my timothy comes from ellensburg...take care
