I'm pondering whether to find a partner for Toby, a neutered male, 2 years old, who I adopted from the animal shelter a few months ago. He is a free-roam bunny who seems quite happy in our home. But perhaps he would be even more content if he had a rabbit companion. Unfortunately, I have no way to ask him this question.

Curious for feedback from those of you who have lots of rabbit experience. Do you think that most rabbits prefer to have a companion? Or are some content to go solo?

Oh I have definitely had a few rabbits that prefer the company of people to that of other rabbits. I have one boy like that right now. He's an extra small netherland-dwarf and so he doesn't like rabbits that are bigger than him, which excludes all other rabbits. He's nice to them but it's obvious he feels uncomfortable. On the contrary he loves people and if he doesn't feel like he's getting enough personal time and attention from me or my sister, he gets depressed.

Although I have also had a lot of rabbits that are really grateful to me and become more affectionate after getting them a companion, so it varies from rabbit to rabbit.
