Do they have to be totally dry before the rabbitcan have them? I have two apple tree's and one pear tree and I wouldlove to give the bunny some sticks to chew on. But I assume they needto be dried? Does anyone here do that themselves? If so what do you do?

Thanks!

I know to santize the branches that my birds useas perches, I scrub them and back them in the oven at 400 for about 20- 30 minutes. Not sure about what to do for the bun's.

Ive read to do that too, but just not sure forthe bunnies. Then I read they can have them fresh off the tree, but Iwould be worried about bugs?

I was also thinking maybe Ill hack off a bigger branch *it needs itanyhow :)* then cut some of it into disks to make some toys out of lol

Apple and Pear and anyvariety of fruit trees with theexception of Cherry and Choke Cherry canbe given tothe bunnyright off the tree you, donthave to prepare it , If the trees arehealthy you shouldnt have aproblem with bugs ,

Baking the branches will only destroy the naturalproperties of the branches, Make sure no leaves arepresen as some leaves like Apricot leaves aretoxic as are the various varietiesof Cherry .

Anyone know where to get apple tree sticks if you dont have a apple tree???

Your local feedstore should also have them ,Mine carries them but i bejiggered if i am paying for something ican get for free, I take it whereyou live there are no apple orchards , allyou have to do is askpermission from them to snipnon vital pices off the tree , andmost will even help you geta few if you ask .

Row : Do like idid ,I planted an 2 apple trees anda pear tree , best part about it isin winter when they hibernate you getto prune them , whenyou do, bring them into thaw out, once thawed , then place ina bit of water till the littlebuds come out , youcan either wait fortheblossoms to come out and fillyour house with the sweet smell ofapple blossoms or feedthe bud and all to the rabbit. seems the buds ofthe trees are like aspecial treat for them , theygo crazy for them .

Well, we wont be here for next winter. Movingthis summer. Ill just trim the tree before I go hehe Or find someonethat has some that I can get some twigs from!
