Anyone work in stores?

I have a question...

When yo uneed to reimburse a client's credit card, who signs the credit card receipt? Is it you that signs it? Or does the owner of the card sign it as proof they authorized the transaction?

Stupid question but no one seems to agree :?I looked online and found nothing.

I think the stores have always given me an in-store return receipt to sign.

I wouldn't think anybody else other than the card holder can sign anything run through on your credit card, though. The clerks may initial it or something, but the cardholder's signature is the only one that can be attached to a credit card receipt.

Yeah that's exactly what I thought. Then my best friend blasted the living h*** out of me for it. So I dunno anymore.I just feel like crap. Anyway, I was hoping I did the right thing. Thanks.

At my work, it asks for the Merchant signature on the refund receipts. I always sign it.

Yes, I *think* that's what they have done with me too (though it's been quite a while since I returned anything on credit). I believe the customer has to present the card that the purchase was made on, then the retailer runs it through on a credit, and has the customer sign the credit receipt - same as a sales transaction, only it's for a credit. I'm not sure if there's anything the retailer needs to sign. I used to work in retail, but that was so long ago, I'm not sure what's changed. At any rate, I do believe it's the customer who signs...

Well, at my work which is a big theme park we have he customer sign the receipt. Which makes sense to me because we have proof that the customer was present when the refund was issued.
