Hi Guys,

I came home tonight from buying Christmas decorations and a kitten ran into our house while I was unloading the car. :( He is sooo cute and I would bet money that he is the younger brother of our Mia kitty (who we rescued from the streets of our neighborhood last year about this time...they look like twins). We already have 3 other cats now and a bunny (that we rescued from our neighbor this past Summer) and we really can't take him in permanently.

People make me so darn mad! How on earth could you abandon an 8 week old kitten, especiallywhen it is 28 degrees outside. He was so hungry and thirsty. We have him in our spare bedroom right now away from the other kitties, but they are really upset that he is here. Mia won't let us touch her and she has been acting like a devil cat all evening.

Anyway, if anyone is interested in a sweet kitty for Christmas, I'd be glad to travel (within reason, of course) to give him a good home. He looks healthy (other than being a bit on the skinny side) and is very sweet...he purrs if you start petting him, although it takes a little coaxing to get him to let you touch him right now. He was playing with some of our kitty toys earlier and has a very healthy appetite. Anyway, please let me know.

I swear...weare abandon animal MAGNETS! Worst thing is my husband is allergic to everything and we have to keep our kitties inside b/c we live too near to a busy road! He suffers through it, though, b/c he loves them. He is a saint, I swear!

I just looked in the petfinder "pet wanted" section for TN. One person is looking for a Himalayan - unless yours is I don't know if they'd be a good lead.

But - there is an ad that says this:

"i am willing to be a fostor parent to any animals at my own exspense"

I'll PM you their info.

Well, I have some sort of good news. Preston and I took a pic of the kitten on my Treo anddecided to go door to door around our neighborhood to see if he belonged to anyone. It turns out he belongs to our neighbors across the street. I was happy and sad. He really is a little lover and spent all morning with me, purring away.

The sad thing is, the neighbor doesn't have a lot of money and had left him in her garage b/c she didn't know if he would use the litterbox. They had a little plastic box in there for him. I told her that he used it just fine at our house last night. I then brought it to her so that she could have it (I know she can't afford to spend a lot of money on a kitty).

First of all, he was sooo hungry and thirsty last night. That bothers me. Also, I am worried that she won't have the means to get him his shots and get him neutered, so what will happen to him when he gets a bit older and starts spraying? I have a feeling I haven't seen the last of him. Poor baby kitty! He is sooooooo sweet. He deserves a really great home.

Maybe you can print and share some the information with your neighbor. It looks like your area has many facilities that provide free and low cost care, free and low cost neutering and spaying. Perhaps it would also help to print info on the benefits of neutering.

Another idea - maybe you could just 'happen' to have a a bag or 2 of food your cat won't eat//doesn't likeand ask her if her kitty will eat it.

Thanks for all of the wonderful info. I had no idea we had so much available here. Plus, I love your idea about the cat food. We rescued Mia as a kitten last year, so I could tell her that we had some kitten food left over and I found it. Thanks for the great ideas. It will also give me an excuse to see the little guy again, hopefully. She says she is going to keep him inside from now on. I hope that she will, especially now that the temperatures have dropped outside.

I know....I just can't stop thinking about that little fella. He was with me less than 24 hours, but he really stole my heart. My other kitties are REALLY glad he is gone, though. Miss Mia has been a total terror. Hiss, Hiss, Hiss, is all we heard from her all day yesterday, even after we returned our feline friend to his owner. Poor Mia...she has to be the head hauncho around here or she just isn't a happy girl!
