I was looking to see if anyone on here raised, bred, and showed either English Lops or the English Angoras?

And if anyone raises other types of angoras and they are shown in the same was as the english you could answer some questions too.

I was just looking for some info about the breeds and how they do show the english angoras. Pm me if its easier.

thanks =)

Not at all.
Satins are suppose to be the worst... I may only have one, but a two minute brushing once or twice a day is no problemo. I just do it during feeding at night, and when I check the babies in the morning.
I know with a blower it can be a lot easier, and I plan on more actively using mine when I have the full six angoras I have room for. But I don't think it's a pain grooming them.

During shows you gotta groom them before they get up to the table. I know there's tricks for WEEKS before, to make the coat look super nice. And a certainly plan on testing them out. X3

Personally, I think there's nothing nastier than a matted angora with a poopy butt. I have NO idea why people bother showing them like that. It's gross and doesn't really reflect well on them as far as care goes. But whatev.

That doesnt sound so bad at all. I guess its like anything as long as you spend the 5 minutes a day, its not 3 hours at the end of the week lol.

I didn't get to see how the people with the angoras work. The one show I was at that there were actually a lot of them, they all stayed outside. And honestly it was a bunch of older ladies out knitting and chit chatting wait to show lol.

and since you mentioned the poopy butt thing...... all the years I was in 4H those kids took really good care of those kids the rabbits were always brushed and you couldn't tell anyone was shedding......... the adults in the ARBA holy cow, the way some of them look themselves after a show totally covered in hair like they hadn't brushed their rabbit since it was born.

are you having a hard time finding them out there? I have called a few people, there was a pretty big listing i found in ohio, but a lot of people have gotten out of them and such.

I breed and show english lops and I have shown my english angora he is the only one right now looking for a nice pointed white doe.

I groom my angoras with a blower. That get the loose hair and dirt out. I use the brush to get out any mats. Day of show I do a quick fluff out and set him on the table.

I also hate poopy butts I clean that on a weekly thing.

Do you have a hard time getting your english lops to breed?

One of the girls that lives near me, she has english, and i had bought some velveteens off her and we keep in touch. She hasn't been able to get them to breed for a long time. They're not something I want to show full time but working with them here and there I would like to do.

also, do you know anyone up around Ohio that would have any for sale? Sometimes breeders know each other so i thought I'd ask.

It took me some time to get my does bred both were just at a year before they got pregnant. Now I was useing a first time buck with first time does. I did work the 2nd time I tried a proven buck. Now the stress don't stop at the breeding I was told they can have a hard time feeding the kits. My one doe she feed them ok just never pulled out hair so I gaver her some cotton. Then a week latter she pulled hair. She weained 7 out of 7 kits. My other doe did not want to feed hers so I kinda held the kits to her every night for 3 days till she caught on. She weained 5 kits out of 7.

Sorry I don't know manny breeders out of state Just here in FL.

I am having a HORRIBLE time with my ELs wanting to breed right now and I have heard that others are as well. Their personalities make up for their stubbornness IMO.:nod

A friend of mine breeds & exhibits English Angoras, but we dont have any ELops over here:(
