We are on our way back from seeing Jack's Mannequin at King's College in London!

I think that there are a few fans on the forum here although I can't remember who now?

Anyway, they were AWESOME!!! Absolutely blew me away. It was such a tiny venue, with steps up one side so we stoop on the stairs and had a brilliant view! No heads in the way or anything!

I got a few pics but my camera died :( I did get a couple of short videos though, which I will upload later if anyones interested :)

Oh, AND they played a Something Corporate song in their encore! Cavanaugh Park!!!! We were very happy indeed :)

If you have never heard of the band then this will make no sense at all sorry! I just wanted to post because I'm so excited that we saw them!

:D

Yay! We have a taker!

I'm uploading a couple of vids and pics now :) Funnily enough, my iPhone took much better pictures than my compact camera, which is strange. The video came out pretty well though...

No way!!!

Ok, here are the videos. You can see how close I was- in the second one I zoom back as far as it goes and that's the view I had the whole way through!

And a few pics from my iPhone, so they aren't great quality:

There we go! :D The singer is very good looking, I can see why all the girls wanted to hold his hand ;)

I neeeeeeed to save up and get a decent compact camera- I have a Canon Powershot A640 and even with the flash at gigs it just takes terrible pictures :( We're going to see another of our favourite bands ever in London AGAIN on Saturday and now I'm sad that I won't get any pictures of them :( STUPID CAMERAS!! :grumpy:

I am not sure if any compact cameras can take good concert pictures. Even if youhave a really good one, they might not allow you to take it in. :sigh:

Most gigs I go to will allow a small camera in, like a compact size. But when I tried to take my DSLR in, I got turned away because it was 'professional'. I tried to tell her that I was nowhere near a professional lol, but she didn't understand :p

So what happened, did you take your camera back to the car and leave it there?

I know at our venues, they check your bags (my wife's purse), but I had my Point and Shoot stuffed in my pockets. ;)

I thought I posted on this, but I didn't!
I am insanely jealous! I love, love, love Jacks Mannequin!
Thank you so much for posting those vids and pics, It made my day!

The time I got turned away with my DSLR was when we went to see REM last summer. Luckily we were parked reeeally close by so I just took it back to the car and went in. I actually saw people with DSLR's at the Jack's Mannequin gig, because it was only a union in a college, so I guess it wasn't as heavily scrutinised like a bigger venue, so I could have taken mine :( Oh well!

I am so disappointed in my little point and shoot! I didn't think it would take pictures that bad. I feel sad in advance of Saturday now, knowing it's a huge venue (London O2 Arena) so they wont let me take my DSLR in so I won't get any decent pics :(

Phoebe, I'm glad I made your day! :D I'm so glad I could get the videos.... I'm still hyped that we actually saw them live! All this time we've been fans but never had the chance to see them, and in such a small place as well. :biggrin2:

I went and saw Jack's Mannequin & The Fray in Irvine about two weeks ago. Both were really great.

And I have two new T-shirts.

Around here, people are allowed to take compact cameras into concerts, but not "professional" type cameras. I remember when no cameras at all were ever allowed, but that was back before cell phones. I think now, they just figure people will take pictures on their phones anyway, so a compact camera is not much different. They can't keep people from having their phones, so pictures will get taken.

I actually went to a concert in a really small venue last month, and I was told I could have my camera, but I wasn't supposed to use it. (I was in the back and took several pictures, some people were taking video.) At that venue, everyone had to be metal-detected, and bags were searched before going in.
A week later, I saw a more popular musician at a much larger (outdoor) venue, and they didn't look in anyone's bags or metal-detect a single person going in.
I'm still puzzled over that, but whatever.
