I have a HUGE guy named Alfred, I adopted from the humane society, he was all alone and obviously depressed :( Well these days he's spoiled rotten haha He has me trained well, bc I brought him to the vet, and they said he weighed a whopping pound and a half LOL so he can't use his little begging self for fattening treats anymore! I got him a "lil buddy" (what I call him) a few weeks ago, now he's never lonely :) :biggrin2:

Oh I love them, they can be so loving, any their personalities crack me up lol except I have to make sure they don't go near the rabbits!! They can get stinky though, males more so, bc they mark, and I have males lol

Awww what handsome boys! Are Alfred and the baby friends yet? So cute! I have had 9 ratties so far in my life. 7 of those were Pink Eyed Whites (white with pink eyes/albino) because it's illegal to have non-albino rats in Alaska (don't ask why, it's a silly reason). The 2 non PEWs (and 2 of the PEWs) were rescues. I loved my rats, but I'm a bunny person. Will probably have them again some day. Our last girly died a little less than a year ago. All but 1 of mine was a girl. 1 of the rescued rats was a boy, we drove 500 miles to pick him up and then had him neutered so he could live with our females. We had the rats in 2 batches: had 4, then a gap of a couple years without any, then had 5. I do miss having the ratties around and like I said, one day we will have them again! I still have lots of their stuff!

I used to take home the feeders i fell for but they didnt last long, a lot were put diwn at not even a year old due to cancer ect.

I woukd love to have a berkshire blue and varigated black, blue, or fawn. Id do males and have their bits sliced off. Lol the idea grosses me out but boys were always the best.soooomeday though :)

I told hubby if a male dumbo rex blue berk or varigated showed up id get It lol..chances are like 2% of finding one!

Oh my godness i do love a cute ratty! i have never owned one the closest animal to a rat i have owned is a hamster but I do find myself torn between ratties and hammies

I have rats! I have 11 right now, including two half wild rats. :) Five boys, six girls; all rescues. Oliver and Dodger came from a spca, the two halfies came through the NZ rat rescue, and one of the girls came to me pregnant, also through the rescue, and had five babies; all of whom I kept, plus the mum's sister. :p However, I am far to lazy to upload pictures.

I don't know why they ibnsist on sleeping in their litter box lately, ewww lol

lol but litter trays are comfy! Or so they all say. :p

cage looks awesome. :D I have a Sputnik, too; but they've only just started using it! Both boys and girls ignored it for weeks. :p Boys prefer their igloo.

I do have a word of advice. First, put a square of lino around the cage; or at least a shower curtain or something. Then, move the cage away from the curtains. Seriously, you would not believe how far they can reach! Boys are very messy, and they can aim outside the cage...lol!

HAHA well they only thing he did do was chew a whole in them lol I've never had a problem with them spraying or peeing outside the cage, I think....

They change their sleeping arrangments basically everytime I clean their cage lol, I like to change it around.

thats so cute...my friends talking about getting rats and i wont even ask hubby so ill secretly get my rat fix from others lol

I love rats so much. I've kept them for years, but my last few passed last year. I haven't gotten any new ones yet. I keep eyeing rescues and local breeders, but no luck yet. I keep waiting for that "one" to catch my eye.

They look like happy rats to me! :)

I LOVE rats. I am down to one right now (taking a break after she is gone) and have kept them for a little over three years, during which time I have had five (including my current) always kept in pairs or more.

They've all been rescues and have had nasty luck with health problems, but all the love and snuggles make up for it.

I love my rabbits, but my rats are truly my small animal love since they're so much friendlier and so much more intelligent.

I have two hairless guys right now!
Males are the best, mine give kisses all day.
You've got some cute rats

I don't know that I'd call rabbits less intelligent and less friendly than rats. I've had some monstrous rats in my time, haha. I think each small animal is their own. Some are friendlier than others. :)
