Any idea what a "croaking" noise means?

My NZ Easter just had her litter this morning--9 just like Alexandria). I took them all out and did an initial inspection and count. I thought i heard her make a boost ata this time, but want sure. She watched me, seemed a bit anxious but I'm not certain. Anyway, i had replaced them, she jumped in and checked them out, i covered then back up. Before i finished up, i petted her a bit over her head and back like any other time.

That's when she was making a noise that i guess i would describe as a squeaky croak? That might be slightly off ads it didn't sound painful or even really aggressive.
But I've not had that happen from my other rabbits so i want to trey and verify it a bit.

She's no newer to me than Alexandria (whom never makes any nnoticeable noise when i check hers. I feed her just like the others and don't remember ever having to be rough or aggressive with her. (By rough or aggressive, i mean a situation where one has tried to jump while i had her, and for their own safety i had to set "gentleness" aside and make sure i caught her securely)

Anyway! Any ideas? Sorry i don't have any audio clip of the noise.

Does can change mood/personality after they have a litter, usually it's just temporary. She may have been warning you to back off. We had a doe who was normally very nice, but got very protective right after kindling. Once the kits were about a week old she got much better and didn't mind our hands being in her space as much.

Okay, that's fine with me. I guess my biggest concern was that maybe she was being defensive due to complication with kindling or some such scenario. I'm going to try and give her a bit more space, but i don't know how well that'll work since i check them daily

We didn't stop checking the nestbox, but we either distracted her temporarily or petted her with one hand while checking the kits with the other.
