This morning i found my orange standard rex,Jimmy dead in his cage. There was no warning. He was his usual selflast night eating and drinking well and if anything was more fussy thannormal. He was not even three and was recently at the vets for a checkup before mating.

I just can't think of anything at all that could have caused it, theyare all fed the same thing and he showed no problems at all.

Sometims I know we can't always explain these things but oh so sad, poor little guy.

The vet checked him today and took bloods and can find nothing. Imainly took this action as I breed with him and wanted to make surethere was nothing such as a silent infection or cause to worry hepassed something on to his offspring.

yes all my buns are outside. My terriers hangaround at the gate of my rabbitry all the time and would think he isused to that. Mind you we have had some cats about so maybe. Oh but aterrible thought that he was frightened to death. He had such acharacter and SHHHH dont tell the others but he was a particularfavourite of mine.

I, too, am sorry to hear this. Sometimes, their little hearts just give out,,,breaking
ours. At the same time, I know that you'll find joy in hisoffspring and comfort in the knowledge that nothing has beenpassed on to them. Through them, Jimmy will be remembered fora long time. Charlotte

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers today, pinkyp. I'm so very sorry. What a horribleshock. Please let us know what you learn about Jimmy from thevet's tests. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time.

Thank you all. all of the tests so far areabsolutely normal, just waiting on a few that have been sent to thelab. The vet was so shocked to hear Jimmy had died as he was declaredfighting fit two weeks ago. He asked whether he could do an autopsy forhis own interest too and that he wouldn't charge me for that. He couldfind nothing wrong at all.

Maybe it was just one of those things, but i would have liked to have a reason i guess.

RIP Jimbo xxxx

I'm so sorry he couldn't find anything. I wish you did havean answer. I guess they just needed him over the RainbowBridge more than we thought we needed him down here.

It's so hard. I wish there was something I could say or do to help ease the pain.

I'm thinking about you, pinkyp.
