I have been looking for a pair of american fuzzy lops and they are so hard to find in my area. (MN) I really like the look of the breed but wonder why they don't seem to be very common around here? What are their personalities like? Are they a difficult breed to raise? I am heading to a few shows that are coming up and will keep my eyes peeled but the last show one had one and it wasn't for sale.

anyone know of a good breeder in the MN-WI-IA-SD area??

Too bad you're not closer. I had a woman not show yesterday to pick up two AFLs I am holding for her.

As far as their personality, I find my AFLs are some of the sweetest bunnies I have. They like to be snuggled, petted, and they're notorious for being "kissers." I love have litters of AFLs because the mom and babies all come to the door to greet you and want to be snuggled. They're such affectionate little balls of fluff :)

AFLs have a "juvenile hair" and an "adult hair." I find that the adult hair is very easy to take care of. For the most part, the bunnies will take care of their adult coat on there own. I help them out during molting only because I don't want them ingesting a large amount of fur. The juvenile coats last for maybe 6 months. These require more combing to keep them from getting tangled. Some breeders will actually shave off the juvenile coat in order to encourage the adult coat to come in quicker. I'm too afraid to freak out the bunnies to try sucha thing. Plus, a bald bunny can't be nearly as cute as the little fluff ball. :)

OH GREAT now I want them even more :biggrin2:

hopefully I can find one or two at the next few rabbit shows I go to???

Good luck in your search. I find it funny there aren't more out there...but I don't stumble upon many either. I'm sure you'll love them when you get them. They are fantastic pets. And, if you can't find one, schedule a trip to PA and we'll hook you up! LOL

(I'll refrain from posting pics of my two little ones as to not entice/torture you too much since you live so far away) :biggrin2:
