We generally sell breeding does by age 2. By this time they have hopefully produced a better replacement and we can still get some $$$ for them. It's not good management to let old does eat up the profits if they are unproductive.

Our nice bucks generally stay in the barn forever, continuing to breed as long as they are able.

Like I told my aunt... I have 3 Bucks that will be going to the show on the 3rd to sell. I told her that 1 Dutch Buck is just sitting in my shed just getting over weight and cant do nothing with. 1 Mini Rex Buck that haves an Split penis and cant breed him. And have another Mini Rex Buck can problly throw cute wonderful babies. Just doesnt have an Pedigree and isnt showable.. I told her that I dont need all these rabbits that I cant show or breed.

I retire my does at 3 and i keep them, they get spayed and live their life out as just pets.My does also have 2-3 litters a year.

My does, dpending on the rabbit as well, but I generally keep them if they are productive adn retire by 4 years of age, with 2-3 litters a year. my bucks, well if they're herd bucks or show bucks they stay as long as they live.

I try to not over bred, a lot of my gals only have 2 litters a year, mainly because my dutch have large litters and the Vlop, well I'll bred her out again when I breed her daughter(That i'm keeping out of the litter) out this fall, but they also have large litters

One more question??? When you breeding your doe's, How long do you keep the doe's with the Bucks?

It depends on the doe. Some does require persistant bucks and so I may have to leave a few hours, some does even require living with bucks for a week. That is rare but it happened with two does recently. While others I let connected 2-4 times, remove and an hour later put back and let breed 2-6 times or so.

When I went over to my aunts to re-bred my Rex. She said that she breed her Flemish giants on the 29th.. And I noticed her choochy was a little swollen.. What does that mean??

I fine that usually means that they got pregnant. If they get small and pale usually they did not take, but if they keep a constant bright red poochy look or swell up a bit and stay that way I find that have usually took.

I usually put the doe in with the buck before I start feeding, 20 mins later I take the doe out and try again the next morning to see if she's taken.

I mean what does the Doe do when it is pregnant and he trys to hump her?? Im trying to figure out how can you tell if they are taken or not?

Some does will accept anyway, some will not. I had a line of mini rex that would accept a buck up to 3 weeks in their pregnancy but after that would not. This same line produced does that ALWAYS accepted a buck. I never worried if they would breed or not when I put them with a buck.
