I've come across a few different answers and I'm talking with the girl I am getting them from Thursday...but I was curious on some of you guys who are familiar with the breed what age would you recommend breeding them?

6 months is when I bred out my original doe, for some odd reason the buck's do seem to mature a lot slower, I had to bring her back to her breeders to get her bred, because the buck, who was the same age, wasn't ready yet. Very odd. The new pair, i made sure the doe had already been bred and produced litters so I could get the young buck that i liked.

The pair I'm picking up tomorrow, she's wasn't positive on the age at the show, she said they were 8 or 9months, I got to call her tonight and she'll have all the paperwork and everything with them so I'll know their exact age. But yeah I was hoping after the first of the year to start breeding and see how that goes. That way I get to see how their kits turn out...and have all of the spring shows to look at what might be better to help the line.

I'm just pretty excited to pick them up!

want pics!!! and you aren't too far from me, sorta. not sure where in Ohio you are(i'm not good with google maps today) but if you are close enough, I might buy a baby from you in the spring to add to my line of Vlop

I defiently will post pics when I get them. I have wait now because her work schedual changed =( but sometime next week. And you're only about 3 1/2 hours away. Are there usually any good bunny shows down by you? And I'll def. mark it down that you've requested one that way its reserved when they are born! and if you eventually change your mind thats cool too lol. I'm flexable.

oh no, I'll figure out how to bring it in! LOL I don't care if I have to sell more of my mini rex or neuter my two holland boys and bond them. I went down to Elizabethtown but that's 2.5 hours southwest of me, alot of the ones i'm looking at are up in Ohio, partly because my sister lives in Tiffin, OH. There's not a lot of shows in KY, we aren't a big rabbit state. Western KY, Tenn, Indiana and OH are our best bets.

I usually breed the doe once a year, the buck i do show since he's got nice quality, but he doesn't end up on the table if they go up the same time as the dutch- one of him versus 6-9 dutch that i have with me. probably after Poppy's litter next year I'll sell him and keep a daughter and raise her in with mommy-retiring mommy.

I would also be intrested in getting a pair of velveteens!
let me know if you ever go to any KY/IN shows!

Are either of you going to the Wilmington, Ohio show? Its over towards Cinci a bit.

They're having a New Year's Eve show, if you guys would be interested?

I know that feeling. I think I'm sacraficing a lot this month so I can go. I'll have to try to get lots of pics to share with you guys on here.

Same here, plus my parents are too big on traveling so I go to more local shows (KY/IN area). I will be looking forward to pictures and good luck!
