I just adopted a bunny about a month ago and he is my first bunny. He'sseems to be veryactive and does not like to be in he's cage in the morning or from 4pm tillmidnight. I know that that is when they are most active but i'm wondering if there's anything i can do that would keep him happy in his cagewhen he needs to be in there? When he is out of his cage he is very curious but after a few mins. he is content to come laybeside me a let me pat him. Are all rabbits like this?

Hi there! :)

What kind of cage does he have? Any chance of connecting a pen to the cage, or bunny proofing the room he's in to allow him more space? If you can't bunny proof where he is, I'd definitely see if you can increase the area, so that might settle him down a bit.

I would give him lots of things to do, rabbits are very active and like 'projects' to do. They get bored quite easily, and love things they can chew, dig and toss! Cardboard boxes filled with hay or newspaper are a favourite here, or even a cardboard box flipped over to make a little house.. just put a doorway and I'm sure he'll make a few of his own! :D Have a peek in our library for even more toy ideas!

All bunnies are different, some are more content in a large pen with their toys, others love to explore. Rabbits are like people, and have their own individual personalities :). I've yet to meet two rabbits who have the same personality!

You couldn't be more right! Clover likes her little (big for her really) cage and a bit of time to play now and then in the big pen... Bo likes his big cage and time to play and time for love from everyone! Tony likes everything and anything but LOVES to play all over and gets into anything he can!

Funny thing - Tony sleeps from about 1 pm to about 5 pm each day.... and we have considered a "DO NOT DISTURB - bunny is sleeping!" sign for our front door.....

Isn't that the truth?!

My Emma one day decided that she wasno longer willing to use her litter box whenever locked inside of her cage. We rectified the situation by allowing her free run within anx-pen area. (Granted, she's not a carpet chewer; our Zoe is--and that's why lil' Zoe is caged at night.)

Goalie Girl, your lil' guy might need a more non-traditional cage setup, such as an "open" area (within the confines of an x-pen).
