My oldest son's best friend since they were in kindergarten and first grade, who has been living with us for a year and a half, leaves for California tomorrow...I am happy for him but am going to miss him terribly. My sons and hubbywill miss him, too.

We had a party for him last week, but now it is really hitting home that he has moved his stuff out of Andy's room and his dad picked it up tonight.

I requested a song on the radio - The Starting Line's "Greg's Last Day." Greg said he thought of that song when we moved from the neighborhood where he and Andy met but now it has come full circle.

While he is not mine biologically, he's my unofficial "adopted" son and this is a tough day for me. Tomorrow he leaves at 5AM and I head to a rabbit show - the first in probably 12-15 years for me.

Baby Jared will have Greg's old rabbit's hutch...

Thanks for listening....I hope Greg can fulfill his dreams of being a teacher and living in California - he loves it so.

Congratulations to Greg for his milestone. HUGS to you for being there for him! I hope the contact is frequent...thank goodness for the internet, email, phones, etc. :)

Awww it's so hard to have them in your lives and then leave. I know that he will always be a part of your family tho...

Spoke to Greg last night- he loves his roommates, was headed to the beach for a bonfire and has his job applications ready for Monday.

While he is not my biological child, living with us for a year and a half and having grown watching him and Andy and Benn grow up together has been an experience and he feels like one of mine - his family came from a different religious background that he chose not to follow before coming to stay with us so he had his first Christmas with us, first pictures with the Easter bunny (a lady in a costume, not a pet bunny experience) with us, and his first Halloween with us.

Oh wow...

Congratulations to you both. It's hard to strike it out on your own, and he's gone quite far! How exciting for you guys!

Let us know how he's doing. And, I have to say, bonfires on the beach in Huntington are magical...really wonderful. :) I lived very close to Huntington Beach at one time.

That was the feeling I got from Greg.:D I am glad he is living his dream.

Greg survived his first earthquake in typical California fashion... "Yeah, the ground shook, we waited a moment, and continued on with life."

That's funny. Some people get used to earthquakes quickly (like your son sounds like), and some people just never really get used to them.

Glad to hear he came through it okay! :)
