Benn was on his way to work earlier this week and had his first ever run-in with black ice - for those unfamiliar with it - the road can look like it is clear but it is a glaze you cannot see and it will send you spinning if you are unaware.

He hit it going too fast and went into a ditch, hitting his head (he had a seatbelt on and the air bag did not deploy. He was able to get out of the ditch without assistance and sustained minor damage to the bumper of the car. He was LUCKY.

He made it to work on adrenalin and realized he could not think straight or count money and asked to go home early and his managers said "15 minutes early." He gave 2 weeks notice there. Doc said mild concussion - a few days rest and he is better but all he wanted to do was sleep and I had to keep getting him up so he did not fall into too deep a sleep.

Thank you to his guardian angel... I worry every time he or Andy get behind the wheel... luckily this lesson learned did not have a worse outcome.

Everyone in the cold climates - stay safe on the roads this winter.

Oh my Denise that's scary. Glad your son is ok. I think his boss and my sisters old boss must of known each other. When my sister work for a convince store she was robbed, she was made to get the items for the man with a gun or a knife can't remember and she was very scared and upset and the boss make her finish her shift.

I'm so glad that he was ok, the roads have been quite bad here too! Someone nearly hit me the other day! Again I'm glad that he was ok, shame his boss couldn't be more considerate, lets just hope that someday the balls on the other foot and his boss will get to know how it feels to be treated like that.

 glad he's ok! the things us mums go thru - worry yourself sick everytime they leave the house;) his boss should be grateful he made it to work - many people would have gone straight home. what a shabby way to treat a employee:X

I really hope he is ok, God that boss seems like a real pig head, That is what happens when you work in a chain or a bank they don't care about there employee's!

Glad your son is ok. Hope his boss will not have to experience an accident himself any time soon!

He had a chat with his boss... if they can promote him and give him more money he will stay otherwise he is content to go - he has his cosmetology hours to finish and he is very talented there so he is good no matter how it works out. I give credit to Benn for staying focused.

Many thanks to all for your kind thoughts... and thanks that Benn made it home safely tonight... it is very cold tonight -- about 8 Fahrenheit and for a moment, I can relax.

Back in the Middle Ages I was lifeguarding and a kid wandered into the club I worked at. Nobody said a word until the kid slipped into the diving pool (I had three pools to watch singlehandedly as the owners were being "frugal"). A member came up to me to tell me a non-member was in the diving pool... and I realized the kid was in trouble... got him out and he disappeared... but I still had to finish the night... and was still on edge as in 21 years they never had a near drowning....

Here I cannot sleep but it was good to see Andy and Benn in their beds this evening... a cup of tea and I hope to fall back asleep... didn't help that I woke from a dream of a jet crashing into my house...

Gosh,i'm glad to hear that your son is ok.

ps...Rebecca..i cannot believe your sis's boss would not let her go home early after what she went through...that is just discusting!

Just glad he is on the mend.

Of course he went out on a date and locked his keys in the car... as Tim and I were in the new Sherlock Holmes movie. His date brought him back to the house (about 30-40 minutes away), so we got to meet him and then they went back out to watch a band play, got coffee and Benn was home at a reasonable hour.

I cannot wait until he is a parent - he spoke of adopting when he has a life partner in the future.
