I got a new female dutch bunny last weekend. She's been very well taken care of (spoiled) with treats, regular baths and brushing, etc. She was given to me by a friend's co-worker who says she's 3-4 years old, not spayed, and has never been outside. She loves to be petted but HATES being held (I have fresh blood from her back nails now from putting her back in her pen for the night after her being out for several hours). Anyway, she has a normal dewlap but then over her front left leg she has an extra one. I haven't been able to feel it but it looks like an extra small fat pocket that's just wider than the front leg. Is this normal or should she be seen by a vet? I'm feeding her what I feel is adequate intake for a bunny her size but I'm not sure if that will help or not. I don't know much else about her.

Is it squishy? It could be a abscess.. i'm only guessing though. I would probably see a vet if I was in your situation.. wishing you the best of luck!

Very odd! Do you have a picture? It sounds like a tumor or something and definitely worth a vet visit!

I would take your new bunny to a vet. For a check up. Know she's overweight, (spoiling a rabbit can do that), but that extra pocket doesn't seem right.

Also when you at the Vet, ask him/her about a diet that could get those extra spoiled pounds off. Plus as I've read in your introduction, that you have time for her to run in your Son's room. Excellent thing to do. With a proper diet and exercise, I think you will be able to slim this girl down which will be so much healthier for you.

Please let us know what you find out.
