hi all

just been reading an article here on rabbits scanning with their eyes

well i have noticed recently that if i put food down for lucy she will not see

but she sniffs to find anything

she is a pure white rabboit with pink ears and pink eyes

should i take her to the vet

varna xxxx

I suspect not. Theveterinarian probably would have picked up some indication if somethingwas wrong at Lucy's recent spay.

Rabbits rely on senses of smell and hearing because theirvision is not particularly good, especially close up and, foremost, don't forget they are unable to see anything directly in front ofthem(blind spot) because their eyes are on the side of their heads.

Anything directly in front of them, like the food you put down for her,can only by located by smell, as the food doesn't make any sound andshe is incapable of seeing it unless she "looks sideways" at it.

The key here is to always try to "think like a rabbit." LOL

Not to worry!

Buck

hi buck

thankyou for that

your such a gentlemen and i really look forward to your posts

good on ya kid

god bless varna xxxx

I completely agree with Buck. I also suspect that it's just that you'recatching her 'blind spot', which happens to be right in front of theirnose.

I believe there's a website about What Rabbits See and their Eyesite inthe Cheat Sheet, Varna. Check it out, if not, I'll get it foryou.

Glad to hear our little Lucy's okay.

:)
