HEY EVERYONE,
I HAVE 3 RABBITS A DOE AND 2 MALES, I HAVE BEEN A ADDICTED RABBIT OWNER FOR 3 YEARS AND RECENTLY BRED MY DOE SHE HAD 2 GORGEOUS KITS AND WAS A HAPPY MAMMY.
IVE ALWAYS WANTED MY RABBITS TO HAVE A NATURAL HABIT TO GROW OLD IN, SO IM DESIGNING A RABBIT RUN FOR THEM BURIED 4FT IN THE GROUND WITH 4 FT ON TOP OF THE GROUND FOR THEM TO MAKE NATURAL BURROWS AND TO KEEP THEM DRY (I LIVE IN SOUTH WALES SO ALLOT OF RAIN LOL.)

MY MAIN REASON FOR JOINING THIS SITE IS TO GET SOME ANSWERS ON THINGS FROM REAL DOTING OWNERS INSTEAD OF INTERNET PAGES
FIRSTLY MY BOYS ARE GOIN IN TO BE NETURED IN 2 WEEKS.. SO IF I BOND MY MALES AFTER A FEW WEEKS AFTER THERE OP AND LEAVE THEM BONDED FOR A FEW MONTHS WOULD I BE ABLE TO THEN INTRODUCE MY DOE? AND WOULD I NEED TO GET HER STERILED BEFORE I DO SO? THEY ARE ALL LIVING IN MY SHED AT THE MOMENT WHILE PLANS AND ALOTT OF DIGGING IS BEING DONE ON THE RUNS, I ROTATE THEM EACH DAY SO THEY EACH HAVE THE RUN OF A VERY EMPTY BUT VERY COMFORTABLE SHED AND EACH ONE HAS ACCESS THROUGH THE WIRE OF THE ONES NOT OUT? WOULD THAT OF HELPED WITH THE BOND? MY BOYS LIVED TOGETHER UNTIL THEY HIT SEXUAL MATURITY BUT DID GET INTO A LITLLE ALTERATION A FEW MONTHS BACK BUT NOTHING I THOUGHT THAT SHOWED MUCH AGGRESSION, I WOULD REALLY LIKE FOR ALL OF THEM TO BE IN A NATURAL RUN BUT I DONT WANT TO RISK ANY OF MY 'BABIES' GETTING HURT JUST BECAUSE I DIDNT GET FULLY INFORMED BEFORE I TRIED THE INTRODUCTION.

ANY ADVICE WOULD BE AMAZING FOR ME! THANKS GUYS AND I LOOK FORWARD TO CHATTING TO YOU ALL

Hello and welcome to the forum. Never tried any bonding, but everyone says to have all neutered before. Our rabbits are house only as it's too hot here now for them to be out--Summer here, not winter like where you are.I built a chicken coop for my dad and buried wired 3 feet deep and double walled it with heavy guage wire.

Welcome!

I only have one rabbit so no experience with bonding either but I have read that they all do need to be fixed.....so even the female. Unless you plan to breed her again of course, but you may have issues bonding her as unfixed females can be aggressive too.

Sounds like a great run plan you have going. We love pics here so post some if you want! Agnes is also an indoor bunny only too. We have way too hot and humid summers and way too cold winters where I live.

Welcome and looking forward to hearing more from you!

Even if your female were to be unbonded, she still should be spayed. The risk of uterine cancer is so high that spaying really should be done.

About natural burrows, I'd be concerned about cave-ins due to heavy rains. Maybe you could start with some buried concrete drainage tunnels & shovel some dirt into them that the rabbits could rearrange. Or how are you going to protect them from rain? I don't quite follow your plan.

That would still leave potential predators, feral cats, hawks, etc. Or, if it's to be completely enclosed, how do you plan to check on their health?

I'm confused.
