I QUIT SMOKING.

Believe me this is really big for me, I smoked for so many years. I can honestly say i haven't felt this good for years and i can actually breathe. I don't use my puffers much any more either.

I must plan a BIG celebration for September 27/2010, my 1 year anniversary.

Note to self start planning now. lol

Congratulations. My dad got a growth on his vocal chords and quit cold turkey--turned out to be nothing but he never started up again. My mother died from throat cancer in March--a two plus pack a day. Used to really hate being in the living room with them at night or going anywhere in the car. Keep up the great work!

Yay, go you! I've never smoked, but I know several people who have given up recently; it seems pretty hard, so well done.:biggrin2:

Congrats! I have heard that's really hard XD

My mom quit smoking around 4 years back :)

But my dad is still smoking. I want him to stop so bad. But he has to WANT to stop.

Congratulations I was down to a couple of smokes a day and about two weeks ago I quit all together do to a four year old question.

Aunty can I smoke with you one day. I told her no watered down my pack and threw it in the trash. She was like Aunty why did you do that. I told her smoking will kill you. And if I ever see you with a cig in your hand you won't sit down for a week. and aunty wants to be with you for a very long time. She was like so smoking is very bad right I told her yes. She asked if I would make her a promise to never smoke again I promised her and she promised me she would never smoke ever.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Wow Kat that must have really thrown you for a loop when your niece said that.

Great that you quit. It's still difficult to this day but I feel so much better and have saved so much money in 11 months.

Susan:)

That's awesome, Susan - well done :)!

How did you do it? Did you just quit, use patches or what? My friend used hypnosis - was told to think of the most disgusting smell/taste they could think of, and every time they smoked, that would be what they experienced. Never smoked again :D

Jan i used the patch for 1 month then said the heck with and went complete cold turkey.

Yeah Stan, I'm counting down those days to 1 year, I will have a big celebration. My sister has quit for almost 8 years now (i'm a little slower than her) and she says all the time if she has 1 cigarette she'd be back to smoking again. I agree with that. The smell actually makes me sick now, and to think I use to smell like that.:craziness:shame:foreheadsmack::yuck:purpletongue:vomit:
