    walnuts

Hi, I wasn't sure where else to post this aside from nutrition. I've heard that walnuts are toxic to rabbits, and though it usually mentions the shells, I'm curious about the inside?...I don't plan on feeding her any more or EVER any nuts in general, I'm just concerned about the small piece...

anorexic bunny :( need advice in weight-gaining

Hey everyone, I thought I'd give an update. She's eating/drinking on her own just fine, though she still seems reluctant to eat timothy hay. The lump that was on her gland is gone...the vet I saw said it was probably just a fluid mass. He told me that uterine cancer usually spreads to...

anorexic bunny :( need advice in weight-gaining

^^ I tried to post a picture of her exploring today. If that doesn't work heres a link to anyone who wants to see (because I'm just so happy she seems to be feeling tons better and I'm not very experienced in these forum things...hehehe)...

anorexic bunny :( need advice in weight-gaining

I put a teaspoon of apple juice in her water and she drank it like a madman! She seems to be getting her energy back too...she came to see me when I let her out of her cage and curiously inspecting me while I was getting some pineapple ready. She still kind of stumbles but seems to have more...

anorexic bunny :( need advice in weight-gaining

Oh, I almost forgot. Her water bowl is the shallow type. She just doesn't seem interested. Hmm. I can try the sugar though...I was also thinking about spiking it with a bit of apple juice

anorexic bunny :( need advice in weight-gaining

Thanks for the replies everyone. He suggested the hay-only diet because he said there was no other way to get the system back to normal. I didn't quite understand it, but he told me it had worked with several other patients. I got her the critical care because she couldn't wouldn't eat very...

anorexic bunny :( need advice in weight-gaining

Sorry this may be a long post, but I'll try to summarize as best i can. She is almost 8 years old and I have no idea what the breed is. She was sold to us as a dwarf, but she is much bigger than one. The background story: She had uterine cancer back last August. She had a spay and it was...

    The broken bunny...need help :(

She's doing great. The diarrea stopped once I stopped giving her the antibiotic. Her sneezing and scratching also stopped and her appetite returned once her tooth problem had been fixed. He explained to me that the two other vets I had been seeing weren't well versed in rabbits...one saw mostly...

    The broken bunny...need help :(

Thanks for replying! Actually, this ended up being a double post. There were some replies on the other one. :) I ended up seeing a third vet who informed me that the two vets I had been seeing weren't very well versed with rabbits...even though when I asked them that question they said they...

    The broken bunny...need help :(

The new vet was a huge help. He noticed that her teeth were overgrown and that she was having trouble eating. It sort of makes me mad...in every checkup they told me "her teeth look good". Obviously not! She's getting them filed down tomorrow morning. :)

Thanks for the replies. :) Nancy McClelland wrote: No, I'm not near a veterinary school. However, I found another rabbit vet (friend recommended him) and made an appointment for tomorrow! Bunnylova4eva wrote: As for what she's eating, just hay and a bit of her pellets. I haven't...

    The broken bunny...need help :(

I'm wondering if anyone can help me here. :) I have a spayed, female bunny who is approximately 7 1/2. It started back in July when I noticed she had a bit of blood in her pee. I made a vet appointment immediately for the next day and while I waited did some research. It was there that I...
