    Lavender: First time mum

Day 2 The kits are healthy and vibrant. Squeaking when my hand is near them. It looks like most are Charlie coloured or white. I had hoped both parents would have enough colour to get more then just one butterfly pattern. It looks from now I'll be breeding Lavender to either a solid blue or...

to operate or not to operate...

If it's an abscess you really should have it operated on right away. They're very serious in rabbits as they're hard to remove. Can be contagious and deadly depending on the type and where it is located.

Advice please - interaction between young unfixed male and female rabbits

Oh you bet they can climb!! That's how mine have escaped so many times! One night I was just about asleep then I heard a big thud and went to the bunny room and one of my does had climbed over the play pen! Also that's the doe in my profile pictures favourite passed time.

    Hermaphrodite rabbit?

I have had bucks mature as young as three months and others that have taken up to seven months so it's not strange that your boe/duck (I had to! :D) only just grew testicles, if that's what they are, which it looks like it. Could just be a buck with a smaller penis although, it's not unusual...

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

All my buns do, my piggies inhabit cages outside, it's just the weather is getting colder and my house is usually only two or three degrees higher then outside as I don't have a heating system or an AC for that matter. She's pulled more and is now pulling again and nursing and cleaning their...

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

Also that price is ridiculous, mine was $350(AUD) = $315.15(USD) and I have never heard of an amputation operation on anything but a horse costing that much. I think you need to look around for a cheaper vet. If you are waiting that long for the surgery anyway, it's not going to hurt.

    Rabbit lump/tumor/possibly cancer

Mollie, that's not going to ruin his quality of life. I've made this decision myself, it was amputate or put him down and that's what I did. You should see him now, he's no different he does everything and his quality of life hasn't changed if anything it's just got better. He's the same bunny...

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

Sounds like the most plausible scenario. Thank you, here's hoping they all make it!

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

False pregnancy is a possibility but they don't usually carry out this long either maybe she has kits inside but they have passed and just feel like squishy organs? The only way to tell the difference is when you feel one they start kicking about and last I knew organs didn't have arms and legs...

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

We just keep calling it temporary! Then a few months later we realize that it was a bad idea. :D

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

She had them! She had six! I expected a big litter from her as she came from a litter of ten and her mother came from a litter of eight. Big litters run in her family apparently! I'm just glad I didn't end up with ten, I don't think her cage is quite big enough. I'm a bit worried although, she...

    Lavender: First time mum

Day 33 at 3:44am Lavender has had six healthy kits although she hasn't plucked much fur at all, hopefully once she cleans herself up she will pull some more.

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

I missed that message. Well, let's hope that gut feeling is wrong and we have some good news. Me too, I want to go to bed already! Bad idea deciding that it was a good temporary arrangement whilst I restyle my old nursery.

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

I have good news! She's started nesting. I went to my room to grab something and she was plucking fur and grabbing hay like a mad woman although I accidentally scared her.

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

Totally, it's exhausting. We need a rabbit version of a foaling alarm.

I totally agree. We need like a rabbit version of a foaling alarm.

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

Tell me about it, it's nearly 2:00am and I'm to anxious to sleep.

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

Don't worry me too! I gave my doe a quarter of a pear and she ate a little of it normally should would of gulped that thing down in two seconds flat! And she was stretched out and had made a indent in one corner of her cage, evidently the side she has been avoiding for the past week and a half...

Day 33, Nest Built, Milk Flowing, No Labour

That's good to hear, I hope my doe stops eating for the same reason too but I bet if I gave her more grass she'd eat it all again. I might do that but it's near midnight and it's getting cold! I should probably just sit up on the other end of the house for the night and see if the only reason...
