Could the vet not admit him for a day and give him IV fluids and keep him under observation? This would probably be pricy but it sounds like he is ailing.

I had two rabbits on that last year and no diarrhea. I know there are some vets that still recommend yogurt but I don't think it's good for rabbits. I don't think they can digest milk proteins.

Crabapple is ok. From what I understand branches from trees with pitted fruit are not safe.
