A flemish giant breeding question -

TinysMom wrote: What are food prices like over there then if you don't mind me asking? We have 21 Conti's (including kits) and 4 new Flemish giant's in the Rabbitry at the moment, we get through 1 bale of hay (some used as bedding, but mostly food), 5kg of pellet food and half a bale of wood...

6 month old conti. doe accidental mating Q's!!

Long story short due to a mix up of tags, numbers and cards, a 6 month old conti. doe has been bred instead of a 16month old :banghead Now, I know they shouldn't be bred until 10-13 months, so should she have an emergency spay or do we wait it out? she is enormous at the moment, the same size...

ARG.....living with girls who want to breed...even though they're too young/small

I know the feeling. Obviously the giant does here are too small to be bred (the oldest is only about 4 months) and is already mounting everything and lifting whenever she gets near a buck, or even just the scent of one. :banghead

    RIP Casper

01/08/09 6:22pm I found Casper limp in his litter tray, picked him up and it was obvious he wasn't going to make it. I sat with him until 8:20pm and he died in my arms. I can't believe it, he was fine in the morning, and so young. . . I am devistated and keep waking up in tears...I constantly...

    michael jackson

I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone or show any dis-respect for Michael Jackson's death, but I really don't feel that this is in the right place, it really offends me as I think it belittles the death of our little ones. I know people wish to express their grief but I just don't think that...

    WILD/PET BABY BUNNIES :)

There must be a domestic bun breeding in there somewhere but I thought the domestic rabbit was a different genus to the USA wild rabbits so they couldn't breed? Wild rabbits are born only slightly fury with eyes closed. ;) It might also be slightly possible she has "fostered" these babies...

    Storing pellets

Oh! Forgot to add, its 6 months after shelf life, not best before or date of purchase!

    Storing pellets

Store in a plastic container with a few air holes in the lid. Store for maximum 6 months, freeze what you won't use in 6 months to keep it fresh. It has to be frozen to keep fresh. ;)

    Sweet Meadow Farm pellets

Not the worst, but if I had a choice, I wouldn't use them mainly because the ingredients are all supplements or by-products, but I definitely wouldn't use the guinea pig or hamster food.

Reviving 5 day old cold bunny

She might be dragging them out the nest during feeding, its best if he stays with mum (many baby rabbits die during hand rearing, and even if they do survive, they are destined for GI issues), even if you keep him in a seperate nest and take him back to the mum at dawn/dusk to feed. :)
