Show us your dewlap! (Open to does & bucks)

This is Lily - one of the two New Zealand girls I rescued from the feed store (they were turned into him full-grown and I knew they wouldn't get pet homes in this area). Her sister Rosita has an equally impressive dewlap (I just love dewlaps)

Prayers requested for Zeus - dental/abscess surgery on Wednesday

Must_Love_Pets wrote: In Zeus' case - I'm not sure if it is related - but I'm darn well sure that Jar Jar's was related to what Thor had- I looked up stuff and saw that penicillin would've been ineffective. I'm kicking myself because in Jar Jar's case I tried to lance stuff and that only made...

Prayers requested for Zeus - dental/abscess surgery on Wednesday

I thought about taking a picture and sharing it - but I'm not sure if I am up to it. Zeus had an abscessed tooth several weeks ago. The vet wanted to put him on antibiotics for 2 weeks before doing surgery - just to keep the infection from going into his blood stream (or at least have something...

Do doe's peck at their dewlaps when they are being carried?

I've had does do that and even Zeus does that when he's upset at me.... I wouldn't worry.

I rescued a Flemmie in need of a loving home

I find that some of my girls are very very affectionate - more so than the bucks. My biggest girl, Harmony is just a cuddlebug or at least a "I'll pancake while you pet me for at least half an hour" type girl. It sounds like your girl will be a lovebug too.

Show us your dewlap! (Open to does & bucks)

I know - bucks aren't supposed to have dewlaps...but you never know.... Anyway - thanks to Must_Love_Pets for the idea for this thread.

I rescued a Flemmie in need of a loving home

She is absolutely gorgeous and I am so glad that you rescued her...but I suspect that she may also have rescued you from a lot of grief by helping to fill the gap that Thor left. When I lost Tiny I was devastated and within a week if I remember right - we made arrangements to adopt Zeus, a...

    Bunnies...And Other Very Important Things

I just read about your anniversary - I understand how that can feel - we've been married 32 years now and had a few anniversaries like that.

What would be the best colors to breed together for a variety of showable/strong colors?

Bob Whitman's "Blue Boy" was known to often throw harlequins when he was bred to others. I guess it was a shock at first then folks learned that he carried harlequin. Of course I didn't know this when I bought him and bred him to a chestnut (hoping for opal) and got a harlequin out of it...

    RIP Thor

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you don't mind that I noted in Thor's infirmary thread that he passed so that people could come here and post their condolances. There is nothing quite like flemmie love....I know he has left a big hole in your heart and life. You'll be in my thoughts...

(RIP) Thor-possible staff infection? I am goign to lose it right about now

I am sorry to share that Thor has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I am sure that it would be appreciated if you would share your condolances here. Binky free sweetie....you were so handsome.

Mini Lop Origins and the History of Rabbit Breeds

I will share a bit more about lionheads - but I'll make it brief since I've shared so much about them before. The lionheads that were imported into the US were pretty large compared to what we have now. I (and other breeders) will frequently call them the "old style" lionheads. They laid...

    Who has Flemmies?

"Dukey" is now a little over a year old (he turned 1 year on July 31st) and weighs probably 15 pounds or more....I'm sitting here watching him get playtime on the rabbitry floor. Sure is hard to believe he was that little that he'd lay in my hand and drink from a bottle...

    Who has Flemmies?

Found some more baby Dukey pictures....hope you like them.. Dear God, please let it be milk time soon! Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray oh God my tummy to keep...full that is...

    2011 Texan Tales & Tails

I went to feed Smith tonight - and he started giving me kisses. I was like "Wait....you're NOT Jonesy..". Tiny Tim also DEMANDED pets now that he's in a larger cage... Oh well - I am shocked at Smithy - I think he'd make about as good a pet as Jonesy - except for not understanding (yet)...

    Who has Flemmies?

DIpitydane wrote: Yep - he's steel. I currently have black flemmies, steel flemmies, a white flemmie and several light grey flemish giants. I have decided to stop breeding but I imagine that I will always have a flemish giant in my life.

    2011 Texan Tales & Tails

Smith (probably gonna be called Smithy from here on out) got put in a new cage - it is Adam's old cage and has a shelf. I really didn't think he'd get up on the shelf.....ha ha ha. Right. I am gonna have to redo the shelf or take it out - but anyway - I went into the rabbitry and was saying...

    Who has Flemmies?

I just took this photo of Smithy....he got put in a new cage with a shelf in it (I didn't think he'd get up on the shelf...I will need to make it more sturdy). He's from my last litter of babies...and I call this photo "Got Ears"? (I had asked him what he was doing up on the shelf..).

Mini Lop Vs Dwarf Lop Vs Holland Lop

It depends upon where people are from. If I remember right - a "dwarf lop" is the same thing as a holland lop - but they're called dwarf lop overseas and holland lop here in the US. Mini lops here in the states are bigger than the holland lops. I would be able to tell the difference...
