If the rabbit is indeed female, would that kind of nesting in the absence of pregnancy be a common behavior? My bunny was one and a half years old before she was spayed but I never saw anything like that. Very interesting!

My bunny sleeps in the fireplace. To get in she has to squeeze through a 2-inch opening behind a wrought iron grate. We were shocked that she could get in there the first time. Now I have a hidden camera there.

In the first nine months that I had my bunny she had three bouts of either GI stasis or gas pain. (I'm not sure which because It passed within hours after giving her critical care and infant gas drops.) Then I found a new rabbit savvy vet who suggested that I eliminate all treats and limit her...

My bunny did the exact same thing at that age! I ended up putting a second (corner) litter box in her cage for a while -- it was crowded (see pic) but after a while I was able to reorganize the space again. I should add that at this point she free ranges in the living room 24/7 so how the cage...

My bunny was reluctant to eat hay at all when we got her so I mixed in a few fresh greens at first and slowly reduced them. Worked very well.

Sorry for the confusion, @PeanutsPlace. I do get that your bed doesn't pop-up. I was just admiring the style. I like @DonnaHarvey's ideas. Do you plan to keep the xpen?

Hmmmm. OK, another idea: Does the bottom bed have one of those frames that pop-up to make it level with the other bed? If so, maybe you could use both beds together to create a little island in a corner of your room. Something like this ... (but with your own decor)

How big is your bed? I'm thinking that if you could elevate your bed you may be able to create a cozy loft space for yourself up above. That would also give you more flexibility for using the floor space.
