I'm so sorry to hear that Dobby passed away to early in her life. =( I hope you won't think too horribly of rabbit shows. This kind of thing doesn't happen often. Maybe she had a weaker immune system or was more susceptible to something another rabbit carried.

Were there other rabbits at where they were staying? Maybe seeing other rabbits (especially does, even though they're neutered) affected the bond. Maybe you can start from scratch bonding them.

Anyone keeping a rabbit unattended outside without protection from overhead predators, confinement, and something to prevent them from digging under the confinement is being irresponsible. Rabbits are prey animals and domesticated ones aren't cut out to fend for themselves as well as wild ones...

The vet won't think badly of you if you simply say you just got him. I bet the vet can get those mats out no problem when he's being prepped. =p

I'm glad you were able to spot this. Many people listen to vets without question without realizing that not all of them know about rabbits! I'm surprised though that she would be be that ill-informed.

Especially free WITH a cage. I've never actually seen proof of people using rabbits they get off craigslist for those cruel purposes, but I have seen a lot of people acquire animals only because they are free, and don't intend to take proper care of them. They usually neglect and abandon them...

Thank you for the input, Korr_and_Sophie. =p I've been a show breeder for several years though and do understand the risks and repercussion, as well as the issue of pet quality rabbits. We've decided not to breed Pasha, for the sake of her and others than need homes.

That's sad to hear. But Im glad they're able to save some of them. Do you happen to know what they tell the people who are turned down when they bring their rabbits in? Or do they euthanize the rabbits they don't have room for? What if shelters collaborated with breeders, and used them as a...
