Almost 3 days old and just had a feed this afternoon!

my male bunny (Duke) is the sweetest, friendliest rabbit I could ever ask for! He follows me around everywhere and is free range (except at night) I wouldn't say he's a fan of food (neither am I) but he never bites, growls or scratches. I love exercising and he loves doing binkys and going crazy...

So I did a proper count up and there are 8 healthy buns, 3 are black with white paws, 2 are grey/blue and 3 are broken like mum - 2 which are black and white and 1 grey and white. I got to watch mum feed them and it was amazing! They all ended up with super round tummies!

thanks! I've just heard that the mum might not look after them if she smells human on her babies...but she seems fine with me looking at her buns

I have no idea (I only do Flemish Giants) but I don’t think size matters that much - unless one is considerably smaller, it’s the tummies that show they are healthy and good size.

If the babies have nice round tummies then they are being fed ;) if they look rather skinny with lots of wrinkly skin then that’s a sign that they aren’t being fed... good luck!

How are the 8 babies doing?

Check tomorrow whether the buns look full and round - wrinkly skin is not a good sign... but otherwise just leave the mum and she’ll know when to feed them. It can take up to 2 days for the first feed to come through

Ooooh I hope everything goes ok, that sounds like your doe had a decent sized litter so it isn’t uncommon to have some not make it... good luck! My minilop x Flemish doe is due on Tuesday (31 days) and has started making a nest with straw yay! I’m very excited as this is her first litter!

My bun (male) occasionally has that problem... sometimes hay/straw - whatever bedding you use can poke or irritate the eyes and so the rabbit’s eyes are trying to get rid of whatever is in the eye by leaking. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, just keep a close eye on her and check that nothing...

Oh my gosh!!!!!:D That is so amazing how the dad actually gets along with them... I’ve always thought that you can never put the dad with the babies as he will only attack them... that is so CUTE and AMAZING thanks for posting pics too, you have the absolute cutest mix of babies:)

Wow only a week left for her then! I hope she is successful this time! One time, a few years back, I had a doe give birth to 18 babies!!! But, they ALL disappeared except ONE which later died as well... she had this happen to her first two litters and then her third was successful so good luck...

Thank you woahlookitsme, she is 9 months old now and doesn’t have floppy ears so the only reason I would say she has mini lop in her is because of her markings and also her size? If any of her babies get floppy ears then I’ll know... thanks everyone for helping xx

Holland lops grow 2-4 pounds fully grown. Mini lops grow no bigger than 6.5 pound (3kg) so I think you are right in saying that he’s a mini lop but I’m no expert... good luck!

Thanks :) she managed to get together with the male today and this was very unexpected.... so I guess I’ll see in a months time if she has any kits? I have another doe due on the 27th of March so in about 2 weeks... I’ll let you all know if she has any!
