I have an old rabbit too 11 and he has regular dental treatment he can’t chew hay so we feed him science select pellets which are softened in warm water for few seconds then I drain water off. Hi folks. Hope you experienced bunny keepers can help me. I have two house bunnies in seperated cages. One is an old rescue buck not neutered and the other a doe who is speyed. She is 2. When I let them out to excercise they do sniff each other through the cage. Snd the buck will sit for hours...

    Depocillion for rabbit

Hi JBun thank you for such a good reply with a lot of advice there. Actually one of the vets you recommended did see jasper in November it may even have been you who recommended her. She’s very good. Unfortunately she’s off sick but I will take him there next time. Plus she only charged £140...

    Depocillion for rabbit

My rabbit had his back teeth filed down again today which is regular. The vet said he has abscesses behind the teeth snd has suggested weekly injection of Depocillion which should hopefully keep them under control. She said she is unable to do anything further but to see how the injections do...

    Sudden death

Sad news to read you have provided lots of love snd care for your rabbits so don’t feel you failed them. I would give Apollo lots of extra cuddles and love. Is he outside? If he is bring him indoors.

    Arthritis

Thank you to be fair he has no mobility problems it was very who suggested he was not eating his poo fully which could indicate arthritis. I give him 2 m of metacam once a day for his teeth problems when I sense they give him pain. He has regular dental treatment. Thanks for the tips

    Arthritis

Took jasper for a normal dental and health checkup and vet says he’s got arthritis and suggested metacam which I give him already for his teeth discomfort too. Just wondered was there anything else I could buy him to help him.he is 11

    Ethics of teeth filing

They sometimes think they are god!

    Ethics of teeth filing

Good points yes I think less exp vets would look at the easy option to them. When I feed him his bowl of soft pellets he’s like a dog can’t wait to eat them. Whilst he’s got an appetite and is comfortable why take his life away. Thanks

    Ethics of teeth filing

Thanks as you see he’s chilled out loves exploring the room. I think we know when it’s time sadly. 12 was a good age for yours too.

    Ethics of teeth filing

My rabbit who I took in two years ago when he was found in woods is a great bunny very friendly relaxed. Loves being stroked cuddled. Vets think he must be 10/11. He has to have his teeth filed every 6/8 weeks and only eats soft pellets. This was suggested by the vet and he has been on these 12...

    Cutting out muesli etc

Good idea same as me her cage is like a mini garden with hay all over it.

    Cutting out muesli etc

She already has a good pellet from Science Select, I’m just encouraging her to eat more hay ideally 90% of her diet but hope she adjusts to it.

    Cutting out muesli etc

My indoor rabbit is putting on weight. I am cutting out muesli and reducing greens. She has lots of quality hay both in her cage and her litter tray. I just worry she won’t eat more hay. Is there a way of knowing if a rabbit is eating enough daily to ensure it’s adequate?
