    stopped eating hay

She's still not eating hay. I hand her some, and she just takes it and tosses it. Same for the hay in her litter box. I also got her a new thing for her to eat hay in thinking a change would interest her and it didn't. I've tried multiple hays, mashing up banana and spreading it on the hay...

    stopped eating hay

They did. She was put under anesthesia, so they got a good look into her mouth, but I will probably bring her back if something has come up since then. Her gut is working, and her poops are a regular sized, but a bit darker than the normal light brown colour. I will definitely check out your...

!HELP! my bunny has some crust in the corners of his eyes every morning, he has a tiny bit of discharge out his nose also.

I'd take your bun to a different, knowledgeable rabbit vet. Discharge out of the eyes and/or nose usually means there's an infection or something happening. For the eyes, make sure to wet a cloth or something with warm water and dab around them so they don't get gunky or too crusty with the...

    stopped eating hay

No they didn't. There's definitely an underlying issue, we just can't find it. Nothing showed up on the xrays or ct scan other than the tooth issue but that wasn't severe enough to cause issues. No gastric problems, or any issues in her blood cultures either. She gets the adult rabbit garden...

    stopped eating hay

so the saga continues. my rabbit has had a slew of issues recently and for the last month she hasn't wanted to eat any hay. the vet suggested a pellets only diet since then. we are currently doing that. this is obviously concerning since hay is 80% of her diet and she's never not eaten it. she...

    bun not doing great.

Not really. Her liver enzymes? were up a bit, and she had a small abscess that they only noticed because of the MRI. But he drained it, gave us antibiotics, and said it wasn't enough to cause her much problems. Teeth are fine no issues there. So I asked if there's not any problems, why did she...

    bun not doing great.

Got the xrays to an x-ray specialist and the "mass" was nothing. But yesterday she got her blood drawn and found she has hepatic lipidosis but we don't know what that is a secondary symptom of. She has an appointment Wed a few hours away with more knowledgeable vets with better technology etc to...

    bun not doing great.

Normal diet is timothy hay, rabbit safe greens, veg, and the occasional fruit etc. Unfortunately she is not spayed, I still haven't found a vet who is confident enough to do a spay, but I am still looking. Discharge, red and irritated top inner lid. Thanks for the recs.

    Things My Rabbit Can Do?

Have fun enrichment things in their area. Chew sticks, toys they can throw around, blankets they can dig at and roll up etc. I have a cat tunnel for my rabbit and she loves to run through it, and what the above commenter said.

    bun not doing great.

So about a month ago I posted about my rabbit having an eye issue. Turns out it has become far more serious than that. She lost weight rapidly in less than a week. Poops are smaller & less frequent. Eating greens but not hay so I put a special rabbit safe "dry salad" in it so she kind of eats it...

    venting about an incompetent vet

An update in case anyone is going through a similar situation: After taking her to another vet, she was put on meds for two weeks, and if they didn't help we were told to come back. So I did since there was no change, we've switched up the meds, and are getting a referral to have her x-rayed or...

    venting about an incompetent vet

He said he'd seen rabbits before, but clearly he's not knowledgeable about them. The next ones I saw are both knowledgeable about rabbits which is great.

Thank you, I'm glad I got the second opinion and have medications to help her now.

    venting about an incompetent vet

So, since Mab is betting older, she's started to have some issues pop up so naturally I called the vet to get her looked at and checked out. I called because her eye started to have some milky discharge and she's been leaving her dewlap sitting in her water bowl. He told me nothing was wrong...

    Spay Q's.

My bun hasn't been spayed yet b/c there have never been any vets near, or confident enough to spay her until recently. I called a vet who could confidently spay her, but when I asked if her being 5 would be a complication the vet said there would be no point since she's 5 and rabbits don't...
