    Broken Jaw ~New member

So sorry to hear, Elahenajafi, about your bunny. Painkillers definitely sound like a good idea, and syringe feeding, too. Very important he eats enough so he doesn't go into stasis; that would make matters much worse. I hope he improves. Fingers crossed for you.

    Rabbit pet insurance - opinions?

Hi everyone. This all pretty much confirms my hunch. Makes sense to do it for peace of mind, overhear, yep. I'm used to saving, though, so I think I'll just do that. Vet bills here are relatively affordable, too, at least at my vet. My vet is an hour away, in a rural area where they're more...

    Bonding and spaying (question)

Thanks, JBun. I was wondering about that myself. Last time, when they attempted the spay but didn't go through with it, we had her on pain medications for a week straight. Today's her first day without pain medications; we've just passed the 24-hour mark where it's supposed to wear off, and she...

    Rabbit pet insurance - opinions?

Hello. I just got my bunny spayed, and the procedure was a little more expensive than expected due to some minor complications, so it got me thinking about my pet finances. I heard from someone recently about pet insurance, and was wondering if anyone has experience and/or opinions about it...

    Bonding and spaying (question)

So, a quick update: I took Drusilla to get her spayed on Tuesday (two days ago). I took Onyx with her to the vet, and he's been attentive at her side the whole time--he's very attached! I do have her temporary recovery area separated from him by a bar just to be safe, since it was a slightly...

    Bonding and spaying (question)

Thanks! And sorry for the delay. I took your advice the last couple weeks, gave them extra room to run around together. I was following bonding instructions I'd read online to increase their space gradually, so they were only running around in about a 4x4 feet or 5x5 feet area. I let them have...

    Floppy Bunny Syndrome

Oh, no, I'm very sorry for your loss. At least he lived a good long life with people who cared for him. Hang in there, and I'm sorry you're going through this. 😢

    Bonding and spaying (question)

Okay, thanks! Going to call the vet this morning--seems like I should probably get her spayed sooner rather than later, as long as she seems big enough, and not wait until the end of the year like I was going to. After reading a little more in-depth about false pregnancies, I wonder if that's...

Good luck at the vet. I hope all goes well.

    Bonding and spaying (question)

Thanks, JBun. My boy bun doesn't seem bothered by her at all; he just wants to play with her! But he does seem to be giving her more space when she asks for it. He's pretty relaxed. 😛 Her eye does seem to be doing better as of the first few days of drops, but her other eye just started leaking...

    Bonding and spaying (question)

Okay, great, thank you! Before last week, I was just about to put them together 24/7, but right now the only time they're together is when I am watching and can intervene--but I was also thinking that of course I can't do that all the time. I'm moving house at the beginning of August--the plan...

    Bonding and spaying (question)

Just following up here. I just took this video of her whining to show what I mean. I've been leaving her alone, trying not to bother her all day, but here I'm just barely touching her, for the sake of sharing what sounds she's been making. (Now that I've stopped touching her, she's back in her...

    Floppy Bunny Syndrome

It sounds like you might need to take him to the vet. The risk of not taking him to the vet if there's something really serious going on probably outweighs the stress of taking him. Also, it sounds like he's getting older, so the risk of developing more serious illness might be higher (?). Apart...

    Bonding and spaying (question)

Hello again. Very sorry for the long explanation here (and thank you in advance for reading). Just have a couple behavioural/health concerns, and wanted to put down any relevant information. Thank you. So, I ended up taking Dru to the vet on Wednesday for her runny eye. It was still leaky...

Methods to contain hay (allergies!) - hooded litter box?

That's an interesting innovation, the fan with the box. Thanks for the tip. :) Unfortunately I can't get any hay apart from one kind/brand of meadow, timothy, and alfalfa--not much variety on offer where I live. But I'll experiment with switching them to meadow hay (carefully--last time I tried...

Methods to contain hay (allergies!) - hooded litter box?

Ah, okay, perfect. I might start transitioning them to meadow hay and see how they do, then. Thank you!

Methods to contain hay (allergies!) - hooded litter box?

Okay, thanks. Is a mix of grass hays bad? It seems like that would be tasty and healthy for a bunny, but maybe not. I'm pretty sure what I've got is just meadow hay, at least the most reliably that I can find.
