Which rabbit color is recessive against others?

First I will say where are you located? In the US we have 49 different breeds of rabbits. Yes domestic rabbits all have the same genetics but if you are responsibly breeding you are not just crossing breeds for no reason. In the US there are many rabbits in shelters and we as Breeders do not...

    Are we projecting here?

I think it's just a mixture of his calmer nature since getting back and your guilt making you think he is mad at your or holding a grudge. I will say it has only been a week since his surgery. Now if he is still acting this way a month from now then there may be something wrong. But think how...

    Breed of my bunn?

Many breeds come in the chocolate color. Havanas actually aren't a common bunny to find and because of this aren't normally found as pet bunnies. Most pet stores want small bunnies to sell so they get breeds like polish, lionheads, Netherland dwarfs, mini rex, and holland lops or mixes of those...

    Breed of my bunn?

I think you would be fine in saying he is a Hotot mix. They are an all white breed with rings around both of their eyes. They tend to be smaller. He could just happen to be a total mix that just came out that way but if you want to put a name on it a Hotot mix is what he looks like. As far as...

    Continental German Giant aka Conti

A member on here, kmaben, has one named Kai. He was so sweet I got to help her with handling him. She has her hands full with two babies now so she doesn't get on here anymore I think.

    Gender oops! Pregnant?

Agree with the above. Give her hay and when she starts nesting then you can bet it will be soon. If she is pooping and peeing in the box just clean out the box and try again. Usually fur pulling happens the night of or morning of

What breed is my rabbit? Limp ear?

I'm going to say she looks most like a Californian and for shows a California weighed 5lbs at 70 days of age which is about what yours is. I'm not sure about the ear but I have heard that when they have previously had ear infections that the ear can be so damaged it never becomes straight again...

    Newbie

Color pattern is that of a Dutch rabbit but the long hair is from something else (possibly lion head or angora)

Is my rabbit a true Dwarf ?

Is my rabbit a true Dwarf ?

Oh sorry I was a looking on my phone and didn't look quite closely the photo was fuzzy and I just thought that was her hair lol. She is the same color known as Chestnut Agouti though

Is my rabbit a true Dwarf ?

I also wanted to mention the mini Rex posted in the photo by RavenousDragon is actually the same exact color (chestnut agouti) though in mini Rex the color name is called Castor. The only reason it looks slightly different is because the two rabbits have different coat types.

Is my rabbit a true Dwarf ?

I'm going to say at that weight he is a false dwarf. In show terms breeders also use the term BUB (Big Ugly Buck) not that he is ugly in any way but he is not going to win on show tables. Bigger Netherlands dwarfs can still be used in a breeding program but their type must be phenomenal. Per the...

What breed is my new addition?

I would say blue eyed white or BEW polish as well. As far as how popular or common they are it totally depends on your area. Polish are very great pets and are known to be great for kids. Netherland dwarfs really have much bulkier heads and if your baby is a dwarf then it is a VERY poorly bred one.

When and How to Remove Baby Bunnies + Nest?

As a breeder for almost 9years I completely agree with JBun. It is very important for babies to get healthy gut flora from mom and that she teaches them to eat cecotropes as well. To give them the best chance they should not be taken away from mom at least until 6-8weeks of age. I only weaned...

    Blue tort

I will start by saying I am not a holland breeder and the breed I showed had only four colors but I do comment for judges and I have learned a lot showing rabbits. Baby is not Himalayan and blue cream is not a recognized color. Your baby cannot be a full blue tort because that is a shaded...

    Show Questions

For her ear and paw I am assuming that the ink is gone by now? In a show a judge can disqualify a rabbit for mismatched toenails. This means the one or two toenails on one foot are either lighter or darker than the others For your outfit in prospect shows I would usually wear a nice western...

    whats your favorite rabbit breed

There isn't a debate because harlequins are a recognized breed but it is not a recognized color Tans are my absolute favorite breed because of their rare personality and coloring. French lops and Britannia Petites are very close seconds

    Cause of death

No telling what could have happened to her. As Happi Bun said it definitely could have been trauma or toxicity
