    How to age?

You're right about not sending an older rabbit into surgery. They're often too fragile for that sort of thing, past a certain age. One way to tell rabbit age is to look at the front feet. As they age, their front paws get more and more bent out of shape and look more haggard.

    How Do I Bond?

Sit or lie down on the floor and let your rabbit visit you. Before long, you'll have a bunny preening your hair and climbing all over you. Do this enough times and you'll bond nicely. Another method is to sit on carpeted stairs with your rabbit. The carpeted floor technique seems to work the...

    New rabbit owner

Fresh veggies seem to be hit and miss. Some rabbits are okay with them and others are not. I find that many older rabbits start to have gut issues when getting too many fresh veggies. Studying the eating habits of hares is what led to my adoption of dried foods (dried parsley, dried apple...

    Runny Nose

Probably snuffles, yes. Cute name, snuffles.... However, it can cause a lot of issues as a rabbit ages. Not sure what can really be done about it. Mainly a good diet to try to keep it under control. As always, unlimited hay, unlimited water, not too many fresh veggies. Try to emphasize dry...

    Gi-stasis: Help!

As Zuppa said, restrict your bunny's diet to hay and water. Then introduce a tiny bit of pellets per day (after things start to stabilize). That means: - no clover (this is likely part of the issue that your bunny's having) - no fresh veggies - no treats Your bunny might throw a tantrum or...

A nifty way to build an enclosure

Here's a method for building a light-weight, modular bunny enclosure: http://www.blitter.com/~nebulous/enclosure.html And here's a feature that you add to it when done: http://www.blitter.com/~nebulous/otherworld/Rabbit%20platforms%2001C.pdf

Bunny with dislocated or fractured leg! Help!

Vet vet vet! Right away. Be sure to give your bunny carpet to lie on. Avoid slippery surfaces since, sometimes, a rabbit's feet will slide out to the side and it'll put a lot of stress on their joints. Lateral force on a rabbit's leg is a nightmare for them.

4 year old Holland Lop wheezing

Is it a rasping sound? If so, that's likely pneumonia. If so, that's a very serious condition for a rabbit. Be sure to keep your bunny warm and dry (a general rule that I follow, even for healthy rabbits). Corticosteroids are sometimes used in cases when humans have pneumonia, so it sounds...

    HELP!!! Losing weight!! GI STASIS?

Going without hay will eventually become a disaster for a rabbit's gut. If there's no pet store in your area, is there any possibility that you can purchase a bale of hay from someone with horses? Other things that might work as a contingency are dried fruit tree leaves (e.g. apple leaves)...

Toilet Training Tips Please - 7 month old male neutered rabbit

As Apollo's Slave said, just let them be together and pick up the poops and put them in the box each time (and then put the bunny in the box each time). Sometimes they'll insist that their box be closer to their hay so that they can reach over and eat while sitting on the loo (yeah, I know --...

    Brown pee?

I agree with the replies here. It's usually not an issue if it's occasional. That color of urine happens from time to time and isn't generally a concern. If it was blood, it would be bright red and not an ocher color.

Bunny still flicking pee - help?

Wow. It's very unusual for a male rabbit to spray 6 months after being neutered. Your bunny must have powerful adrenal glands (that's the other location which can manufacture testosterone). Hopefully it'll settle out eventually. Could take a year or so though.

    Problems with rabbit's poop

If they keep getting smaller and harder, then get your bunny to eat more hay. One trick is to give your bunny enough other food to last until around 2 AM. Be sure that there's plenty of hay available. At around 4 AM, a typical rabbit will get desperate and finally start munching on hay. Other...

Rabbit died suddenly- has anyone experienced this?

I've seen something like this before. In the case that I'm aware of, it was caused by pneumonia. As such, I keep rabbits away from drafts and I keep them dry at all times. Some are more sensitive than others. Some general info here: http://www.blitter.com/~nebulous/otherworld/RabbitCareGuide.pdf

    Gi-stasis: Help!

The typical method for fighting bad gut bacteria is to introduce good bacteria. One way is Bene Bac probiotic powder. The other (better) way is to get your rabbit to eat more hay, since hay encourages the growth of good gut flora. For the powder, it's one pinch worth of the powder per day for...

    New rabbit owner

That looks like it worked out really well. Perhaps a small/cheap throw rug to give them a soft surface to sit on? Not sure if you're interested, but there are some nifty bunny tips here: A feature that would probably fit in your groovy enclosure area...

    No Pain Meds After Neuter?

Over 40 years of rabbit care here and I can say -- from observing post-op rabbits (including males) -- that they certainly do require at-home pain meds for at least a few days. In fact, the standard for the animal shelter in my city is 7 days of Metacam delivered orally for male/neuter...
