Bunny passed away, can’t seem to overcome grief and guilt..

I literally laughed out loud when I read that last sentence and got out of our warm and comfy bed to get on the actual computer and post this picture for you: This is Layne, who passed last January 19th during a bout with stasis. We arguably couldn't even afford cremation after the vet bill...

    Depressed bunny?

I'm so sorry to hear that :(. I've lost bunnies to GI stasis before as well... it hurts so much to lose them so suddenly. My deepest condolences for your loss... binky free, sweet bun!

Share picture of your bunnies as young and grown up

@Hermelin - most of the pictures in your first post aren't working for me :( I've got some great through-the-ages ones of Nala... I'm on the way to work in a minute, but I'll post them when I get a chance.

    Nala-bunny's wall-of-shame (please contribute!)

Awesome! When they were little, Nala and Gaz liked to get into my wine so I started drinking it from a cup with a lid and straw in order to thwart them... they knew what was in the cup and saw me drinking through the straw, so they were trying to figure out how to use the straw, too. I love...

I got so excited when I saw you mention 'boyfriend' in another thread recently! I just didn't have time to come over here and 'squee!!' about it 'cause hubby was waiting for me to get off RO and play video games with him, lol. I'm so happy for you :D. Sorry your stepdad is being such an...

    New bunny owner, spaying question

    I'm glad she's doing better!

    New bunny owner, spaying question

This is normal. Syringe-feed as necessary. Nausea from anesthesia lasts around 24h and dramatically reduces appetite. Just get what food you can in her during the first 24h, even if it means giving extra treats/fruit, etc. It's like how a kid who just got their tonsils out might get...

    Neutering tomorrow... any advice appreciated!

I can tell you from personal experience with double-spays, single-spays, dental work, etc. that it is 1000% normal to drive yourself insane on surgery/anesthesia day. Your mind perpetually races through the worst-case scenarios and everything in your universe feels off-kilter until you put your...

introducing rabbits that are different sizes

I bonded a californian (just shy of 8 lbs) with a 3.5 lb mismarked dutch last spring. Size really doesn't matter... only personality does.

Hiccups suck. Usually it's me that gets them from eating too fast or standing up too fast after laying down... but right now, hubby has them and they refuse to go away. Poor hubby! Alice is trying to help. When hiccups are violent and persistent, that's the worst!

    Depressed bunny?

What you describe is GI stasis, which is a symptom of something else (pretty much always involving pain). Not eating, drinking and/or pooping for 8-12 hours is a medical emergency for rabbits and requires an *immediate* vet trip. Severely reduced appetite puts them on the verge of stasis and...

Dortmund has started nipping my eyelids

Yes, like with any other destructive or obnoxious behavior that becomes a rabbit's "new favorite thing," my solution to Norman's rotten behavior while I was sleeping was to block access.

Dortmund has started nipping my eyelids

1or 3, it's kind of a toss up. Norman never bit under any other circumstances but god forbid I try to sleep in his presence. He had a serious penchant for nibbling on my eyelids or earlobes when I was asleep. I don't remember him being like that in the beginning, but once he developed the...

Help! Bunny is on medication but still isn't eating or drinking on his own.

Good news all around! Until your critical care arrives, another good option is to put some pellets in a small bowl (won't take much at all) and add water to a little ways above the pellets. Microwave until fluffy (I don't remember how long it takes but I wanna say 30-60 seconds max) and then...

    Nala-bunny's wall-of-shame (please contribute!)

That DBF pic is even more convincing than the ones I have of Gaz! Not feeling bad about messes made me extra sad that I can't find my best picture of what Nala and Gazzles used to do to phone books.

ATTN: Everyone who reads this blog... Nala and I demand your participation in our new thread. I spent more time than I care to admit coming up with buttloads of wall-of-shame submissions. You people had better come one-up me on cuteness or die trying :D.

    Nala-bunny's wall-of-shame (please contribute!)

I have a couple extra days off from work this week and decided to use some of that spare time for a fun project - publicly shaming my family! Here are some of the many things our menagerie is guilty of... I can't wait to see what the rest of you come up with :D.

Help! Bunny is on medication but still isn't eating or drinking on his own.

Welcome to RO! Sorry you found us under such stressful circumstances, but I'm glad you're here none-the-less :). Is he getting some pain meds as well? Also, if you can get your hands on small animal probiotics (Benebac or Probios, etc.), those are extremely helpful to give when an animal is...
