Sticker on foot + stained bum...

Thank you! I really appreciate it. I’ll try olive oil in the morning, and I’ll definitely clean it daily. It’s more his tail than his bum (it’s just little pee streaks I think) - I’ll have to get a better picture in the morning as he’s being a grump.

Sticker on foot + stained bum...

I went to cut Apollo’s nails and it turns out he’s got a sticker on his foot - I think it’s from when he was exploring in my brothers room. I’ve already tried to gently pull it off but it’s pretty well stuck on there. Any tips would be appreciated x also: I’m not sure if his bum is stained...

Dortmund does not like other Rabbits

Some rabbits only like a specific type of bunny. Most rabbit specific rescues will be able to find a good match for your current buns. My boy, Apollo was labelled “unbondable” when we adopted him, until he bonded with another rabbit rescues “unbondable” rabbit, a year or so later. it could’ve...

    Bunny emergency kit+DIY critical care

generally helps to flush things out of their eyes if they get something stuck in there or to just clean it out. It also worked great for when Apollo had an eye infection (after a round of antibiotics)

    New first time bun Mom

Welcome to the forum! my main tips would be to learn as much as possible about rabbit diet and GI stasis. Having a good rabbit-savvy vet on hand is also a major must-do. x

    Bunny emergency kit+DIY critical care

That first aid kit should be fine IMO. I’d probably also get unmediated saline solution. Anything else (and even critical care in a lot of cases), should probably be done by a vet unless your super experienced. DIY critical care, I made a thread on it. I’m using ground 100% only hay pellets...

    Anybody know? (breed?)

Yeah, probably best to just call them a “lionhead mix” :)

    is this sore hocks????

She's probably healthy weight. I have to burrow through Apollos thick fur so need to press a little harder but he's still healthy. As long as you can't see her ribs, but can still feel her spine and hips, she's probably good. My underweight buns spine and hips were visible, and had a completely...

    is this sore hocks????

The best way to check if she's a bathymetry weight is that you should be able to feel her hips and spine without pressing too hard, but you shouldn't be able to see them. Fleece generally isn't great for rabbits with sore hocks because it can cause friction and be fairly abrasive. When we were...

    Home grown grass

My garden (backyard) naturally grows meadow grass, and we've also got orchard grass in one part too. If your neighbour adds something to the grass it's definitely a good idea to section your "rabbit grass" away from it. I know you want them to drink more water and the best way to do that is...

    Home grown grass

I've done both. Fed the fresh grass from my garden and dried the grass and put it in his hay. At one point, last year, Apollo lived off fresh grass for a few weeks :)

    is this sore hocks????

Apollo got sore hocks after two months of us having him. He still has them (two years later). For a long time, his hocks got worse, then they didn't change, then they got a lot better, but the hairloss is still there and I'm always checking them still. They're checked once a week by me, and once...

Are these safe? (grapevine, cork, eco-earth cocofibre)

I believe grapevine is safe, Cork could possibly expand in their stomach, so I'd pass on that, and cocofibre should be fine as long as its not treated. However this is just what a quick Google search has resulted in so digression is very much advised. Personally, I would still sto stuff i know...

My Dimi has passed, and I am not coping well

I have had this feeling a few times now. When my last rabbit passed away, I felt physically sick to my stomach, and it seemed like I couldn't even breathe at one point. Some might say that it's an overreaction but these animals are our friends and our companions and can be there for us when it...

I'm really sorry for your loss <3

Advice on best breed to adopt

Definitely personality over breed. Of course, you can have your preferences (a giant breed, male or female, dark colours or light etc) but the personality of that rabbit vary widely. Another thing to add is that the way you see them will be different once you've bonded with them. I've had four...
