    Pellet change

At what age should I start transitioning my buns to adult pellets from young rabbits? Loki and Bragi turned 1 on 4/7, Týr will be 1 on 7/1, and Elessar has the furthest to go, turning 1 at the end of November. I know that while dogs are sexually mature around 6 months, they're not considered...

    Shedding

My Holland lop is shedding a lot. As in, i can fill a small slicker brush several times during a grooming, and then run my hand over his back and watch a bunch more fur float off my hand. He's almost as bad as my dogs! Most of the fur seems to be coming from his chest and belly, but he barely...

    Not eating hay

Yikes, it sounds like I was overfeeding them pellets in the first place!!! Thanks!

    Not eating hay

They each get about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pellets depending on size. The two oldest and the youngest are minilops, so the two that are done growing get 1/2 cup. The youngest is still growing and currently the same size as my Holland lop, so those two get a 1/4 cup. Green leafy veg is about 1 cup...

    Not eating hay

Three are close to a year old, the fourth is almost 14 weeks old. The two oldest used to eat the hay a little bit better than they do now. The younger two still do, but even they won't really pay attention to the hay until there's nothing tastier available. I've been thinking I should reduce...

    Not eating hay

Every afternoon, when I clean my babies' enclosures, I've noticed that they aren't eating much of their hay. Their pellets always get eaten, and their fresh salads, and of course treats always disappear, but a lot of hay gets wasted. I clean every day because they haven't quite made the...

    Bunny laundry

I'm having a bit of trouble with litter training, and there are babies as well. What I'm using are washable puppy pads, but they're not fleece. I believe they're cotton, with an absorbent middle layer.

    Bunny laundry

Had extra laundry to do this week, so bunny laundry didn't get to hit the washer until ALL pee pads were used up. Washable pee pads are great in terms of saving money, but when they marinate until they can get to the washer, they are a bit overwhelming. Overpowering. Ripe. Eye-watering. I've...

    Accidental litter

Last one, I promise. Elessar is in the foreground, Aerin at the pellets, Lindir is the one nursing under Bragi, and Arod is out of sight behind mama.

    Accidental litter

A good photo is no longer possible: the kits are everywhere in every possible direction! So i grabbed what i could in the form of a pic where they were all piled together sleeping, except for Aerin, who was very interested in the phone. They're all nibbling at hay now, and have sorta figured out...

    Accidental litter

Thanks for coming on the ride with me! I don't know how crazy I'd be without you guys helping me out with advice!!!

    Accidental litter

I've stopped weighing the kits every day and moved to every other day now that they're all so active. Today, they are 6.1, 6.0, 7.2, and 7.0 ounces, so they're eating and growing well, and love cuddling in a pile in my lap. Well, except for Arod, who, like his father, doesn't sit still unless...

    Accidental litter

Thirteen days old, and everybunny's eyes are open as of today! This morning, everybunny's weights were 5.7, 5.2, 6 5, and 5.4. Now that eyes are open, they're all wanting to explore ALL THE THINGS, which is why there is only one group picture today. Individual photos were out of the question. It...

    Accidental litter

Ok, today was difficult. When I weighed the kits this morning, they hadn't been fed. I waited two hours, re-weighed them, and they still hadn't been fed. At that point, I decided to put the kits to Bragi myself with the help of my oldest. One to hold mama (me), and the kiddo to swap kits in and...

    Accidental litter

That's so odd. I wonder why we have different date stamps. Are we both in the US?
  16. sibelabmom

    Accidental litter

Hmm...the date stamp on my post says the 20th. It's 7:49 here now, and nobunny has opened their eyes yet. I'm thinking that since I didn't find them until the morning of the 20th that maybe they were actually born on the 20th rather than the 19th?

    Accidental litter

The upper floor of the hutch, where the nest box was. She removed the box, but put the kits where the box had been. It was just a cardboard box.

    Accidental litter

Daily baby bunny progress: 4.2, 5.5, 4.5, 5.1. Eyes still haven't opened, so it's possible that they were born on 11/20 rather than 11/19 and their eyes and ears should open tomorrow. Mama Bragi has completely dispensed with the nest box altogether. She sent the message loud and clear, by...

    Accidental litter

They were born on the 19th!

    Accidental litter

Today's weights are 5.2, 4.7, 4.7, and 4.0. The smaller babies are starting to catch up with the big one! Nobody's eyes are open yet, but two are consistently climbing out of the nest box after feeding. I put them back in, and they climb out again. I think those two are definitely my explorers!
