    Stores in London

Slightly off-topic, but have you tried opening an Aramex Shop & Ship account? It allows you to ship things from all over the world and charges the shipping cost based on weight, so things like forage and grass toys shouldn’t cost too much. I live in the UAE, so I think it should be available in...

Should I consider a second surgery for my girls?

Thank you, that does align exactly with what my vet said. I do feel a lot more at ease about the reasoning for this approach and I’m relieved that a second surgery is not necessary. I lost my most precious rescue during spay surgery earlier in the year. She was my heart bun and I’ve never been...

Should I consider a second surgery for my girls?

Thank you Prietler It does seem to be a topic to keep an eye on. As there are other benefits to spaying (behavioural, for example) if a less risky surgery can be as good from a health perspective too then it would be great, as you say.

Should I consider a second surgery for my girls?

I have to admit my information gathering about the topic has been limited to good old Google, but interesting that all the information out there is potentially largely based on a single study. A friend of mine who has rescued and kept many bunnies over the years actually never spays her females...

Should I consider a second surgery for my girls?

Yes, I understand what you mean. I actually found it stated right at the bottom of their medical records too though “ovariectomy performed”, so I don’t think it was a miscommunication. I discussed it with my vet last night and he explained that it’s common to perform an ovariectomy in cats and...

Should I consider a second surgery for my girls?

I know, it’s actually infuriating. This particular vet performed the spay and neuter surgeries on a lot of the rescues (including all of my rescues and fosters). Through the bunny community we happened to learn recently that ovariectomy was performed most of the time. I had no idea before then...

Should I consider a second surgery for my girls?

Hi All I’ve not been on the forum for a while, but some of you may recall I have 2 female buns named Gigi and Kiki. They are both rescues and I adopted them in 2020. I think they are around 4-5 years old, but cannot be totally sure. Before I adopted them, the kind lady who rescued them had...

Possibly Rescuing Senior Bunny - Advice Wanted

How lovely of you do give this bun a wonderful loving home. We find a lot of people are so interested in adopting younger or baby bunnies, that the older buns get overlooked, when they are just as cute. I hope he has many happy days with you.

    Fostering

Thank you @JBun and @TreasuredFriend for your lovely messages, and I’m sorry for your losses too. She was such a special bunny and I wish we could have created more memories together. She looked after me as much as I looked after her and we loved each other so much. I’m sure she’ll be waiting...

    Fostering

I’ve not been on the forum for a long time because of work and study, all my buns behaving themselves, and having no new fosters. My darling Phoebe found a wonderful new home, but I was still involved in her life and helping her new mum. We made the decision to spay, because she had a phantom...

    Rabbit periodically not eating

Hello! From what I remember, my bun wasn’t experiencing issues every day, some days she would start eating normally, some days not. And i’m not an expert, but I would say it could be possible that it would take a while for the issue to flare up again, particularly if they have been off the...

What is the best way to make a room neutral territory for bonding?

6 days into our second bonding attempt and Lady finally laid off Gigi and demanded grooming this morning. G doesn’t trust it one bit. It was later followed by a nip on the bum, so her instincts are spot on. Taking it very slowly this time. The hierarchy is still very much up in the air, but...

What is the best way to make a room neutral territory for bonding?

You’re not wrong there. I didn’t sleep a lot for the days they were in together. I’m pleased for all of us that we’re trying a different approach. We started again yesterday and did 4 hours. Lady was tormenting Gigi for the majority of it, but otherwise they were all quite calm. I’m still...

What is the best way to make a room neutral territory for bonding?

4 extremely happy bunnies. I couldn‘t bear their sad little faces anymore and G was on total hunger strike. Binkies within 2 minutes. Couple of days to reset and then will try again but with shorter sessions. They’re all actually really easy to catch and pick up if I’m wearing my big suede...

What is the best way to make a room neutral territory for bonding?

Awww haha! The silly thing is, prior to Sunday, Gigi and Lady were glued to each other, it’s like Lady had a personality transplant over the weekend. She’s such a loving bunny, but that side of her is nowhere to be seen at the moment. She’s not really even grooming the other two anymore. I...

What is the best way to make a room neutral territory for bonding?

Maybe I could also split Lady away every few hours if she’s being intense, to give G some recovery time? The other 3 are getting on so well, always snuggling together. I really don’t know whether a small space or larger space is best, neither seem to be working out great. I don’t want to give...

What is the best way to make a room neutral territory for bonding?

I’ve actually put them all back in a pen again now as the relationships deteriorated. By Tuesday evening, whilst the other 3 were getting on brilliantly, Lady had stopped interacting with the group, other than to nip and chase Gigi, and overnight was chaos, with them all chasing each other...

    Adoption Issues

As a rescuer and foster mumma, I do understand why there are so many rules, although appreciate that it may seem as though we are being overly picky. More often than not, these buns come to us sick and traumatised, having endured horrendous mistreatment all their lives before eventually being...

What is the best way to make a room neutral territory for bonding?

Thanks @JBun. I actually thought the same yesterday, the smaller space seemed to be causing more stress, so I removed the fencing and now they are free in the bathroom again (still a bit of fencing there just to help hold the puppy pads in one spot, I don’t think they’re ready for objects / a...

What is the best way to make a room neutral territory for bonding?

So Lady’s turned out to actually be a little psycho! In a group bonding of 4, do they fight for the 3rd spot, i.e. so they don’t come bottom of the group? We seem to have Rufus established as top bun, which they all seem to be fine with, but Lady will not stop going after G. She’s totally fine...
